well… isn’t this cute?– friday dump with the dems again as usual– “sigh”– http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100716/ap_on_bi_ge/us_gulf_oil_spill

HOT: Some guy Jon Stewart got fired called some guy Ben Affleck (whoever that is) impersonated fat. Or something.

Not Hot: The Mel Gibson Audio Tapes. CNN and most of the MSM were saying he should lose his kids. Nancy Grace wanted him in jail etc. After experts say the tapes were doctored –they don’t play up wheres the evidence to support any of her claims. They don’t bother to ask if he were actually so bad why the Russian gold digger needed to ALTER the tapes.

Not Hot: Marc Lamont Hill and others who have come out and acted like the NAACP can’t be racist. Hill even said the Rev Wright wasn’t racist.

Not Hot: Tucker Carlson showing himself to be the biggest tool in the world. When Glynis reminded the world of Tucker going to trial (she was wrong he went to arbitration) to get TuckerCarlson.com back he lost any hand he might have had. Game-Set-Match for Olbermann. Tucker can “try” and get publicity for this but it all comes back to Tucker being a hypocrite and a tool

Smokin Hot: Megyn Kelly’s smackdown for Kirsten Powers. Hopefully, Kirsten will be more prepared before she is allowed back on the FNC set.

Not Hot: Faux MSNBC anchor Contessa Brewer participating in a fundraiser for LBGT. Of course on Monday the discussion was Dont Ask Dont Tell and all the guests were pro gay.

Not Hot: Bob Schieffer’s softball interview with Stedman. Didn’t even ask him about the Black Panther/DOJ case.

    HOT: Piers Morgan — again.
    HOT: BP spill — again.
HOT: Kelly/Powers dust up. Nobody came away looking good.

NOT: Carlson/Olberman dust up. Like two little kids.

NOT: No “Weekend Free For All” post. (So everyone vents here.)

  5. NOT: No “Weekend Free For All” post. (So everyone vents here.)

Or keep it in the most recent FFA thread?

Or keep it in the most recent FFA thread?

As if. It’s already buried, and people gravitate to the last post. But the comments peeter out on the weekend, anyway, so I guess it doesn’t matter much.

if u guys can stop talking about Rachel Maddow or Keith Olbergruppenfeurer or Tucker for just a few minutes, here’s a guy who reminds us what’s been happening while we’ve been asleep (c’mon, it’s the weekend– it won’t kill you!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjS0Novt3X4&feature=player_embedded

I DON’T WANT TO HEAR ONE “GOLDARN” WORD ABOUT MY CARBON FOOTPRINT: “Arriving in a small jet before the Obamas was the first dog, Bo, a Portuguese water dog given as a present by the late U.S. Sen Ted Kennedy, D-Mass.”

UPDATE: Note the appended “clarification” to the story, which says that Bo didn’t get his own plane to himself, but was accompanied by other staffers. But reader Ed Stephens writes: “Do you think any reporter will have the nerve to ask Obama directly about flying the dog on a private jet?”

ANOTHER UPDATE: A reader emails: “The first reporter that *does* ask about the dog’s private jet, will get immediate street cred (and Tea Party cred) that will send shock waves through the MSM.” But the lunch invitations will dry up.
Obie continues his endless vacation– this time in Maine– via Instapundit–

http://www.dailygut.com/?i=4663 — ok, maybe i’m starting to understand why some folks around here love “Red Eye”– never get to watch it as it’s on too late over here– this guy Gut is pretty good–

  10. Pretty slow mid-summer cable news week but here are few items that caught my attention.
HOT: KO vs TC. Tucker tried to get a bit of publicity for his startup website by taking on KO. KO really didn’t bite so aside from some frantic discussion on line the story sort of melted in the heat.
HOT: Steve Friedman takes over as EP on DR. I’m not sure anyone can make DR stop ranting and do an interesting show. I doubt it.
HOT: Megyn Kelly & Kristan Powers go at it over the NBBP story. Megyn will have to learn some control or she will start looking more like the Nancy Grace clone than she already does.
HOT: Piers Morgan replaces LK coverage. Blogs seem interested in this for reasons that escape me.
HOT: Rachael Maddow continues her excellent coverage on the war in Afghanistan, with a newsworthy interview with Richard Holbrooke.
HOT: BP caps well coverage. Seemed understated to me. Perhaps people are just tired of this story as some have speculated.
HOT: Billo goes after Palin. He didn’t allow her to just give the usual sophomoric talking points. Her last appearance on the show for awhile I’ll bet.
HOT: Willie Geist subs for Kathie Lee on “Today Show”. This is a gig built for his talents.
HOT: Mel Gibson tapes, Bristol/Levi wedding & LL goes into rehab.
Three stories about people I don’t give a s*** about.
NOT HOT: lack of coverage of Polanski decision. With all the coverage of Mel, BP/LJ & LL cable news may have reached its quota of celebrity news but I doubt it.
