What’s Hot/What’s Not: 12/12/10

What’s Hot:

John Roberts – Will he stay in NYC? Will he move to Atlanta? All depends on his new deal which the New York Post reported was being worked on.

MSNBC’s Primetime Tax Deal Schism – On one side we have Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow who positively hate the Obama tax deal. On the other we have Lawrence O’Donnell who think it’s the best thing Obama could get.

What’s Not:

Tony Harris – CNN’s Harris will be leaving the network.

Overcovering Elizabeth Edwards – This wasn’t Jackie O. But you would be left wondering why the networks, particularly MSNBC, went to Jackie O. level coverage of the death of Elizabeth Edwards.

  1. -Elizabeth Edwards-

Nothing to be left wondering about – It’s a chick story and the news nets knew it… a successful woman in her own right devotes life to husband. Husband is a creep right when she’s diagnosed with cancer. Woman succumbs to the disease and dies with dignity and grace.

  2. People still appreciate self-sacrifice. Not enough to actually do it ourselves, but from other people.

  3. Respect should not be bashed.

  4. Spud, take a look at your choices for what’s hot/not! I’m an avid TV news watcher, but barely know who Tony Harris and John Roberts are. And for us to be discussing their status at CNN is really a stretch, isn’t it? They are minor players with low rated shows to begin with, and to discuss their status as hot/not is grasping at straws.

A better choice for “hot” would have been the SNL’s 0bama impersonator, stating he’s a victim of “Stockholm Syndrome” and that he’ll be going on the “Bold/Fresh” tour with Glenn Beck and BOR. That was hot!

  5. ^ John Roberts is only a bit player in your “Fox News only” world, Missy. For the rest of us, he was a veteran CBS reporter/anchor long expected to succeed Dan Rather, before becoming the co-anchor of the original cable news network’s morning show. Last I checked, this was still Inside Cable News, Not Inside Fox News.

  6. Joe, LOL. You got me!

  7. ^ Always here to help, Missy. Now maybe you can head over to Free For All for a second opinion on that “bit player”, Chris Jansing. 😉

  8. She was a good daytime anchor years ago, then MSNBC exiled her to some local market. Now she’s back, from what you’re saying?

  9. ^ Missy, Missy, Missy. You’re either joking, or don’t read ICN much..

  10. MSNBC’s Primetime Tax Deal Schism – On one side we have Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow who positively hate the Obama tax deal. On the other we have Lawrence O’Donnell who think it’s the best thing Obama could get.

Also, Spud, correct me if I’m wrong, but Chris Matthews, being a compromising Washington-elite like LOD (and President Obama), I believe he has also shown a bit of support for the tax cut deal. Keep in mind both worked for former President’s, so it would make sense for them to support it. Just thought I’d throw that in there.
