Carville , Matalin, and Erickson depart CNN…

Politico’s Dylan Byers writes about James Carville and Mary Matalin being dropped by CNN…

CNN contributors and political power couple James Carville and Mary Matalin are leaving the network, Carville told POLITICO today.

The decision was CNN’s, Carville said: “I was told that they wanted the contributors to be more available — essentially, closer to Washington. I’m not always available, I don’t live there.”

In other news FishbowlDC reports that Erick Erickson will be jumping from CNN to FNC

  1. Reading the Fishbowl piece, the point that Bennett would be parting with CNN isn’t surprising since he hasn’t appeared on the network in some time, though he has been doing columns on their website.

Carville and Matalin seem surprising, though I only ever cared for Carville in that mix. Considering the point that they were live from their apparent home office, or some office, for most of their times on the network, I suppose the comment could be accurate.

Erickson, eh, let FOX have ’em.

I could definitely do without Erickson at FNC.

Looks like Cuomo and Burnett are taking over Soledad’s spot. I wonder what that means for Soledad? I guess it frees her up to do more “It’s so hard to be black in America cuz everybody is a racist” specials.

  3. I don’t understand all the crying and whining about Soledad’s minority specials. For pete’s sake, look at CNN’s headliners!! They are chocked full of white people. Soledad’s getting booted, Ann Curry isn’t gonna be, who is left? Oh, Jake Tapper and John Berman have brown eyes instead of blue, is that their idea of diversity? In fact, even for white folks they are amazing similar. They look like they were all cloned from the same gene pool like some sort of Media Division constructed from the Matrix. So the Caucasian News Network decides to throw the black and brown folks a bone by airing a few annual specials that attempt speak to their interest and your b!tching that CNN is whining about racism?!?! Really? Yeah, I have no idea why minorities think conservatives are racist. no idea whatsoever.

What does CNN’s lineup have to do with her stupid specials? It’s typical lefty propaganda.

  5. My utterly baseless assumption is that they would have kept Carville, but it’s a package deal. She hasn’t been terribly interesting in quite some time.

This is why we hate Mediaite: their “Look at all the wacky things Carville did at CNN” piece fails to include the 2002 smash “Trashcan on the Head”

  7. I liked Carville and Matalin alright but their time is up. You know you are overdue to get booted when you just show up in jeans and a t-shirt at your in-house studio and wing for 3 minutes. 10 years of that gig is long enough. They didn’t have much new to offer anymore – they certainly don’t come across as being plugged in to what is happening nowadays.
