  1. AFFORDABLE CARE Act?
You might be able to afford the premiums but go broke with the insurance.
    NYT:
“For policies offered in the federal exchange, as in many states, the annual deductible often tops $5,000 for an individual and $10,000 for a couple”

so little time, duo much to bash

  2. My Medicare base Part B monthly premium and annual deductible – for physician and hospital outpatient services, etc, are $104.90 and $147 respectively.
That’s what people were thinking about when they heard the name: “AFFORDABLE”.

    Lies, lies, lies.

  3. Mom and dad will often have to pay $10,000 out of their piggybank plus annual premium cost before their “affordable” insurance contributes a penny.

  4. But on a Nelson Mandela note of everyone getting along: POTUS and Mrs. Obama getting a laugh from Bill-O of all people.

  5. Billo and Herbie Hancock? O’Reilly is an interesting and surprising guy.

  6. Hey larry… stop “bashing” Obama.

Sure the ACA is falling apart and continues to have huge problems, but you don’t need to talk about them all the time. Give it a rest! Like… pause on the problems for like a month or two, and only talk about the good things it might kinda do (if it worked).

    /sarcasm

  7. Do you think that maybe, in the grand scheme of things, paying for your own birth control pills was the better deal?
    http://www.mediaite.com/tv/foxs-wallace-grills-ezekiel-emanuel-on-obamacare-enrollment-if-you-like-your-doctor-pledge/

And this, just to round-out all the perfectly valid criticism that there is of Fox.

  8. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Ezekiel Emanuel is one creepy character. Even more so than his brothers.

  9. Laura I’d agree with that article if it was written before FNC started their attack campaign on Oabmacare.

MSNBC does not get as much flack because people believe they are a liberal politics channel. It’s very clear when you rebrand as “The Place for Politics.” and replace news hours with news talks shows the direction they are going.

FNC gets flack because they still want you to believe they are Fair & Balanced. Just like MSNBC is a liberal news talk channel FNC is a conservative POV news channel.
As I pointed out in a previous thread,
for FNC to claim their coverage of healthcare is Fair & Balanced in a current promo is down right comical.

Every day the first segment on F&F is the hosts complaining about how bad Obamacare is and making snarky comments.

Then you have the newscasts where there is other news that should be covered first and instead they start with a FOX News Alert on Obamacare and devote more time to Obamcare then other news.

Even the FNC news anchors can’t keep personal comments out of the intros to Obamcare segments.
Megyn and Sean devote most of their shows to bashing Obamacare.

Yes Obamacare is a mess and should be covered on every news channel. FNC however has gone from discussing and reporting to an attack campaign.

  10. Any action anyone can take to drive Democrats to modify their Frankenstein monster of health care destruction, will earn the thanks of a greatful nation.

  11. Bashing ObamaCare is fair because it deserves it, and mentally balanced because suicide comes from mental illness.

  12. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Ice, the preferred name by the regime for Obamacare now is the “Affordable Care Act.” You don’t want to end up being formally denounced by the party and sent to a reeducation camp, do you?

  13. Skimmed over Laura’s link. The difference again is that MSNBC is a liberal talk channel with the slogal “LEAN FORWARD”. FNC claims to be a news channel. But this horse is dead.

  14. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    “But this horse is dead.”

Which doesn’t keep some from flogging the hell out of the carcass.

  15. Personally, I’m more interested in criticism of FNC’s hard news segments, coverage and people than critiques of its commentators or opinion shows.

After all, if the argument – one I mostly agree with it (there are limits though) – is that MSNBC is an opinion talk network and criticism of it shouldn’t be made because, hey, it’s just opinion then shouldn’t that standard apply to FNC’s opinion shows?

Why is FNC wrong to have opinion people criticizing Democrats but okay for MSNBC to have opinion people criticizing Republicans?

He who says “A” needs to say “B”.

Anyway, there are limits to the opinion and MSNBC has crossed it numerous times. Too many times at this point.

And the first person to say, “What about Fox?” gets a lump of coal in his or her stocking.

    In fact, two of them.

  16. Jon Huntsman on The Cycle with Abby. Yeah, no conflict of interest here.

  17. I award one NOBODYCARESABOUTTHAT pass to that conflict.

  18. The study was done, a few weeks ago. Even during “news” hours, FNC’s coverage was almost entirely opinion. In fact, opinion network MSNBC had more straight news coverage and straight news segments than FNC.

  19. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Even during “news” hours, FNC’s coverage was almost entirely opinion. In fact, opinion network MSNBC had more straight news coverage and straight news segments than FNC.

Actually, the study showed exactly the opposite.

Take a quick look at the numbers. A recent Pew study revealed that the supposedly neutral CNN spent 54 percent of its time broadcasting “news” and 46 percent of its time hosting “opinion.” Fox, by contrast, transmits 55 percent opinion and 45 percent news. But MSNBC — well, MSNBC consists of a remarkable 85 percent opinion and only 15 percent news.

  20. Except that a “news” network shouldn’t get a pass when their “opinion” people either cross the line rhetorically, or present non-factual “facts”. I realize that it’s nothing new for questionable anecdotal “victims” to appear on Hannity, but it’s not right. It’s also not right when a questionable “victim” appears on Kelly File. Or Fox & Friends. Or any number of other shows where you now have to wonder if they even bother to check the veracity of these people, or just go with a good “story”. When watching Fox, I generally assume the latter.

  21. Will Rahn on C-SPAN (How Obama has undone Clinton’s legacy)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diCCXm6mU0U

  22. I’m not understanding this birth control coverage that’s being mentioned. Will American insurers have to pay for any birth control method for any reason or is it just birth control pills for non-birth control related medical reasons?

  23. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

It’s the former, any birth control for any reason. Nobody, not even the Catholic Church objects to the latter. I guess that I shouldn’t say “nobody,” there’s always the ignorant few that can’t wrap their minds around the fact that the pills have uses other than contraception.

  24. That’s completely absurd. If I recall correctly, Canadian provinces don’t cover that nor do any private supplementary health insurers. My province doesn’t even cover pills for medical reasons, the supplementary insurers might though.
It’s possible that most health systems in the world don’t do that. Maybe FNC should try to do a bit of research into that especially European countries.

  25. Buy a vote here, buy a vote there.

  26. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    That’s completely absurd.

    Indeed.

  27. icemannyr Says:

    Speaking of fact checking,
I had to laugh when “The Five” made a big deal about SNL doing a parody of Al Sharpton’s MSNBC show Saturday as if it was the first time. It was not. They have done the bit at least two other times.
I guess searching SNL Al Sharpton takes to much effort.

  28. Speaking of fact checking..

That’s Greg Gutfeld’s specialty. He has a bad habit of throwing around a generic “they don’t do this, they don’t do that” accusation at The Media without bothering to check the claim first. Which goes to the legitimate criticism leveled at some opinion shows: Having an opinion is fine; making something up, then opining on that…not so much.

  29. Kooiman should quit her job, get married and have kids. And Morris totally agrees! This will not be a Fox News Alert on The Kelly File tonight…

    http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/12/08/fox-news-guest-tells-female-host-to-quit-get-married-have-babies-and-thank-men/

  30. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Younger “adults” of either sex have to be handled with kid gloves, otherwise they are likely to have a sad. Damn shame, but they aren’t expected to actually grow into maturity.

  31. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Having an opinion is fine; making something up, then opining on that…not so much.

Creative editing of things like 911 tapes and the like is even better than sloppy fact checking. It’s EN-BEE-CEE.

  32. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Alan Grayson (D-Florida), aka A Fool and His Money: http://www.koamtv.com/story/24174569/apnewsbreak-fla-congressman-lost-18m-in-scheme

This falls under the category of “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.”

  33. icemannyr Says:

In the intolerant world of Bill O’Reilly, there is only one reason to use marijuana, to get high. What about the legit medicinal use?

Piers was talking about weather and now has Dan Rather on.

Rachel is talking about conspiracy theories regarding the closing of the George Washington Bridge tool booths.

Megyn is on tape doing her Obamacare bashing from LA.
    There’s Marc Thiessen again. Click.

The new “The Independents” show is live on FBN.
So far it’s a boring politics show.
Not sure why a business channel needs another politics show.

  34. Grayson is reputed to be a really smart guy. Obviously needs a bit of horse sense.

  35. Bonny and Clyde part II just starting on A&E, History Channel, and Lifetime networks. I think they become community organizers in this part.

  36. Grayson is an entertaining guy. I’m not so sure about the ‘smart’ part..

    Thiessen again? Come ON!

  37. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Bonnie was just misunderstood. Clyde, on the other hand, was a rabid dog who figured out how to drive and fire a gun.

  38. icemannyr Says:

Getting my popcorn ready for “The Tonight Show” though I doubt Leno is going to ask Megyn why she hates liberals.😛

  39. icemannyr Says:

After all the drama of the 911 call now the girlfriend says he never pointed a gun at her and she wants to be with him.

  40. ^ Welcome to the dynamics of domestic violence. My mom retracted her stories a hundred times, until he almost killed her. She finally left.

  41. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Joe, my whole point about Grayson is that he was swindled twice by people appealing to his greed. That’s what’s wrong with Congress, both parties. Greed clouds their judgement.

  42. well of course he didn’t.

  43. Grayson worked his way through Harvard College as a janitor and nightwatchman, and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts summa cum laude degree in economics in 1978. After working two years as an economist, he returned to Harvard for graduate studies. In 1983, he earned a Juris Doctor magna cum laude from Harvard Law School and a Masters of Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Additionally, he completed the course work and passed the general exams for a PhD in government.
While in college Grayson was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society.

Like I said, reputed to be smart.

  44. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Getting my popcorn ready for “The Tonight Show” though I doubt Leno is going to ask Megyn why she hates liberals.

I don’t think she hates them, except for Alan Colmes. And that’s because he looks like a deranged bug.

  45. Why wouldn’t she hate liberals? what’s to like?😉

  46. Megyn Kelly on the Tonight Show:
“I’m a straight news anchor I’m not one of the opinion hosts at FOX.” Lie. She’s doing conservative POV as news.

“I don’t care about pandering to the left or the right. I care about protecting my audience.”
Lie. She cares about bashing liberals to get ratings.

“The way we do it on the FOX News Channel is straight news anchors like my self give a hard time to both sides.”
Lie. When was the last time Megyn was yelling at a conservative?

Right Megyn doing a whole show with all liberal bashing is a straight news anchor doing a newscast.😛

  47. What about the legit medicinal use?

There really aren’t any legitimate medicinal purposes for using marijuana that have been double-blind study validated. I’m not saying there never will be, but it’s not looking good. Anecdotally, I’ve had a few patients who swear by it and I’m of the opinion that it should be their choice to make and, if they think it makes the feel better, fine by me.

  48. You’re kidding, right, Ice? That sounds like an Ice parody of what Megyn would say to Leno, not something she would actually be brazen enough to say.

  49. She said it. I even went back to make sure I was quoting her correctly. She is still selling her self as a “straight news anchor” doing a “news” show. That’s dishonest base on what her show is.

  50. “I care about protecting my audience.” is not a “lie”. It is also not the charge of a “straight news anchor”. It’s a play on O’Reilly’s “Looking out for the folks” bit. So there ya go.

  51. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

See, Ice, you should’ve watched with the sound off. All it did was make you all upset. Your obsession is allowing these people to live in your head rent free. Don’t take things so seriously. Her “lies” are advertising spin. They mean zilch when compared to the crapola spewing forth from Washington.

  52. She said “protecting my audience” along with being paid to ask the questions her audience wants asked.

  53. I’ll wait for a fuller version on Mediaite, in any case. Shouldn’t take long.

  54. If she really said she’s a straight news anchor, she really lied. At this point I’m beginning to think she actually believes that rightwing PR she does every night is straight news. Which means she’s crazy.

  55. She’s an experienced litigator so it’s hard to tell by watching if she really believes what she’s saying or not. She did pull Karl Rove out of her bag of tricks, though.

  56. Yeah, it really took a “straight news anchor” to know that Karl Rove was having an episode on Election Night.

  57. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Put glasses on Rove and you have Larry “Bud” Melman.

  58. “Knowing” and “putting on spotlight” on Rove’s election night episode are separate things. Bret Baier didn’t take him on.

  59. Baier was like “I saw one of these in Psychology Class. How should I react?”

  60. Gotta to have some balls to take out one of your employer’s own paid election experts right when everyone is watching. Apparently Megyn Kelly borrowed her co-anchor’s since he wasn’t using ’em.

I tried watching her show again and I just can’t for more than a few minutes.

  61. Megyn was great Election Night. My by-now-tedious lament is she ditched that job for the cheesy gig she’s doing now, and pretending they’re the same. They are not.

  62. Ugh, it’s as bad as you could imagine. The woman is either completely oblivious to the rightwing BS she slings every night, or she’s lying about it.

  63. She claimed she understood both sides of the minimum wage debate, then supported the conservative/libertarian ‘no minimum wage’ position. It was such a smooth transition that you’d be forgiven for not catching it. I think Megyn Kelly honestly believes her POV is the neutral ‘correct’ position. Just amazing.

  64. CNN is live covering the Mandela memorial service. FNC is on tape. BBC WN is simulcasting BBC News Channel in the UK.

  65. Most channels are starting coverage at 4am ET.

  66. Once again FNC shows why they are not the channel to chose for coverage of international events.
Ainsley is anchoring coverage from NYC. They have no reporters inside the stadium. Greg Palkot is reporting from outside the stadium.
They just went to Sky News coverage.

  67. FNC has stopped coverage of the memorial service and they are doing the regular Fox and Friends First broadcast with some updates on the event. There is no coverage on the New York City stations as they went to local news at 4:30 AM.

  68. New York Court of Appeals rules Fox News reporter Jana Winter does not have to return to Colorado to testify about her sources in covering the Aurora shooting case.

  69. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    Obama shakes hands with Castro.
    Commie dictators love this guy.

Why wouldn’t he shake hands with his mentor?

  70. If shaking the hand of an American president at a funeral is what gives a communist dictator a thrill, I don’t see much worth making a hub-bub over. Besides, U.S. presidents have been greeting communist dictators for decades.
