  1. On the Twelve days of Christmas, the Fox-bashers gave to me:

  2. Speaker Boehner and other leaders in the House Republican deserve praise for standing up to the crazies in the party.

    It’s about time.

Now if that guy in the White House ever showed some political courage and started leading instead of campaigning all the time we might start to fix some of these problems.

  3. ^ Don’t hold your breath!

  4. On the Twelve days of Christmas, the Fox-bashers gave to me:

This is not a comment about anything. It’s trolling to prevent debate, and sounds suspiciously like something a Fox plant would do.

  5. Complaining about FOX News complaining before anyone comments about FOX News¿ 😛

The news you have been waiting for,
    http://www.mediaite.com/tv/megyn-kelly-will-address-white-santa-controversy-tonight-on-her-show/

  6. – Megyn to address controversy –

“I’m sorry, it wasn’t worth discussing and I should have left it to Twitter” would be helpful. I’ll be shocked if she can bring herself to do it.

  7. From the Washington Post:

“JOHANNESBURG — The sign language interpreter who gestured meaninglessly at the Nelson Mandela memorial in South Africa on Tuesday has faced charges of murder, rape, theft, breaking and entering, malicious damage to property and kidnapping, according to eNCA.com.”

He was standing just inches away from President Obama and other world leaders. How in the world was he hired???

  8. That’s stunning, Carol. The Secret Service obviously did NO research on this guy. Unbelievable.

  9. “This is not a comment about anything. It’s trolling to prevent debate, and sounds suspiciously like something a Fox plant would do.”

it’s a comment on the bulk of this blog’s comments: never-ending Fox-bashing. That’s something. Festive too.

On the first day of Christmas
    liberals sent to me:
    ObamaCare in a Pelosi Tree

  10. Oh, and just as a preemptive comment, criticizing Megyn Kelly is not a “War on Women”. It’s treating a woman in the press the exact same way that you would treat a man if he said something stupid and/or offensive. You’re welcome.

  11. NSA reports Al Qaida abandoning flight training for less costly signing instruction.

  12. It’s only a war if republicans do it.

  13. Please tell me we’re not going to have a conversation over the race of Santa Claus?

Kelly made a silly comment about a silly story and off we go.

Sure, she started it but now we’re off to the swamps with it.

Ann Althouse puts it well here: “Taking a ridiculous race issue and making it more ridiculous:

    http://althouse.blogspot.com/2013/12/taking-ridiculous-racial-issue-and.html

  14. “The Secret Service obviously did NO research on this guy.”

That’s what is so scary, Joe. The President and First Lady deserve the best in Secret Service protection.

  15. they are pretty good at vetting local hookers

  16. “Ann Althouse puts it well here: “Taking a ridiculous race issue and making it more ridiculous”

    She’d love this place.

  17. Megyn took a silly story and decided it was imperative to several times assert that SANTA IS MOST DEFINITELY WHITE. HE JUST IS. She brought this kerfuffle on herself. The Slate article is about a black kid growing up with an iconic image who was white, which is probably more confusing for black kids than most of us realize. Megyn should’ve let her have her say and shut up about it. This was completely unnecessary.

  18. “Please tell me we’re not going to have a conversation over the race of Santa Claus?”

Megyn could have avoiding some of this by having the author of the article on her show. Chris Hayes had no problem getting her on his show.

    Here’s Kimmel’s take on Megyn & Santa,
    http://www.mediaite.com/tv/jimmy-kimmel-presents-the-fox-news-version-of-its-a-wonderful-life/

  19. If it bother you so much, you know where the door is.

    rude

  20. Santa is white. I sat on his lap.

  21. Santa is black. I sat on his lap.

  22. Santa is liberal.

    He gives stuff away.

  23. Santa is conservative.

You have to be good to get stuff.

  24. Santa is a man.

    He might be transgender.

  25. Trying to get that comment count back up again, eh? Spud should create a category for “actual comments about something”.

  26. Friday, 7p ET: Political missteps, scandals and massive failures have rocked the administration to its core! Bret Baier goes behind the Obama Breakdown.

Yeah just from the description you can tell this is going to be Fair and Balanced😛

  27. Bill Baroni, yet another Christie crony on the GWB authority has resigned as The Big Guy continues to throw his pals ‘off the bridge’, so to speak, while denying any personal participation in the stunt. Break out the popcorn as the cover-up begins.

  28. Federal officials tell CBS News a man was arrested plotting to blow up Mid-Continent Airport using a bomb in a vehicle.
    http://www.kwch.com/news/local-news/press-conference-to-address-national-security-arrest/-/21054266/23471068/-/5bqxyr/-/index.html

  29. This is now the second time that joe has claimed “Whatever you do, don’t pay attention to the black woman!”

It’s funny how it someone in the Liberal minor leagues does something stupid, it’s on them and them alone. And no one’s allowed to comment on it.

But when a Conservative no-bencher (Akin, Foley, Orson Scott Card, Rand Paul’s assistant to the assistant to the deputy press secretary) says something untoward, it becomes emblematic of the entire Republican party.

  30. Farris, you haven’t the first clue what you’re talking about. I’m personally thrilled that Megyn dug this stupid hole because it reveals her for the rightwing hack I always said she was. My point is that her making a big deal out of the young lady’s story in the way she did was STUPID. “Santa is white..he just IS. And Jesus, too!” Come on, man..there’s no way you think that was a good idea.

  31. it only upsets the lib anti-Foxers… I think it’s a great idea. if it wasn’t that they were complaining about! it wold just be something else.

  32. Give it a rest, Kelly. Claiming that all criticism of things that happen on Fox is a generic “anti-Fox campaign” is a dodge. My criticisms of are Megyn Kelly are specific and warranted. Go back to your Fox apologist hole if you don’t want to hear dissenting opinion of Your Precious.

  33. CNN, FNC and MSNBC on a school shooting in Colorado.
Time for endless speculation and incorrect reports from sources.
    MSNBC is showing KUSA coverage.
AJA just went live at 3:30pm.

  34. Megyn’s segment was bizarre and moronic. First of all, Santa is not real. Therefore, he can be whatever a kid’s imagination wants him to be. Because he’s imaginary. Fiction. Second of all, the Bible doesn’t offer any physical description of Jesus. And given the time frame and location of Jesus’ life, it’s actually highly unlikely that he was white.

  35. “My criticisms of are Megyn Kelly are specific and warranted.”

And I get to have mine. This is not your blog. Everyone thinks their criticism are warranted. Me too.

  36. If Megyn weren’t so smart, attractive, and most of all successful, the lefties wouldn’t keep harping with the same stuff. But by all means don’t think I’m trying to stop you (‘you’ does not mean Joe as he often assume). Just giving my opinion.

  37. Way to break a kid’s heart, Andy. Who knew?

  38. What’s weirder with rewatching is the first part of the segment. Initially, it sounds as thought she’s reassuring kids that there really is a Santa. Awkward, but no biggie. No. She’s reassuring them that Santa is white, lest they be traumatized at thinking otherwise. Of course, our current image of ‘Santa’ is more influenced by a Coca Cola ad campaign from the early part of last century than it is by any “historical” moorings. Aside from, you know, the whole thing about being fictional.

  39. More of the Great Santa Controversy tonight:
    http://www.mediaite.com/tv/megyn-kelly-will-address-white-santa-controversy-tonight-on-her-show/

Also a topic: is Mikey Mouse black? Is Peter Pan lesbian? Is the Frito Bandito undocumented?

  40. Cavuto doing coverage of the Colorado School Shooting at 4pm.
Is he an anchor or an opinion host?
I’d at least expect Shepard to be back at 5pm.

MSNBC has an anchor Craig Melvin on at 4pm.

  41. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/12/13/Lesson-From-2013-Forget-Gold-Buy-Guns

Gun Stocks Best Investment of 2013

Thanks liberals. The Smith & Wesson stock I bought three years ago appreciated nicely.

  42. MSNBC already turning this into a debate on gun control.
FNC is covering it as a news story so far and no talking about gun control.

  43. Yes Virginnia, don’t listen to Andy. There is a Santa Claus. He is black. He sends presents by drone. They’re not selfies:
    http://www.mediaite.com/online/while-you-were-debating-obamas-selfie-u-s-drones-killed-13-yemen-wedding-guests/

  44. Gwen Ifill, Santa and Rudolph the red Nosed interpreter, perspective:

PBS News anchor Gwen Ifill says the media “lost sight of the bigger picture” while covering the death of Nelson Mandela. In a PBS blog post, she writes the focus was on non-stories, including the fake interpreter tasked with translating the service into sign language:

There is no question it was an insult to the world’s deaf and an international security threat to have a man on stage whose defense for not knowing sign language was that he could be violently schizophrenic. But did that deserve more attention on a day when thousands gathered in Pretoria — in long lines that reminded me of the first free South African elections — to pay final tribute to Mandela?

I never cease to marvel how efficiently we can minimize real news – whether it be rare proof that Washington has a little bipartisanship left, or history unfolding on another continent.

I’d feel a little better if we could at least try to remember the big picture.

  45. So I guess you are mad at FOX News for covering selfies instead of real Obama bad news?

    “Only on Hannity!
Friday, 10p ET: Obama’s bizarre funeral selfie… will there be more blowback?”
Love how they lie in that text and TV promo. It was not a funeral it was a memorial service. The funeral is today.
    The promo is here, http://www.foxnews.com/fnctv/

  46. You guys will do anything to defend Megyn Kelly. It’s amusing.

  47. MSNBC already turning this into a debate on gun control.

Does MSNBC realize that Colorado has strengthened its gun laws in the wake of Aurora and Newtown? Or do facts not matter to them?

  48. Guys?…pretty much just me, Andy, but if I’m amusing, that’s a contribution too. Ice, I agree, the SELFIE was a fluff story. Wasn’t a normal funeral with all the dancing and whatnot. Obama deserved a little slack on solemnity.

  49. “I looked to see if there was a gun,” witnesstold KUSA. “It was a shotgun.”

    Joe Biden choice of weapon.

  50. AR-15 tea-party commemorative shotgun

  51. Hold on, the kid walked in to a school with a shotgun in plain sight?!?!?!

If he had done that where I went to school, he would’ve been met immediately by a police officer. WTF?

  52. This is more a story about a school security failure.

AJA and CNN are still covering the school shooting as a press conference just finished.
FNC and MSNBC are regular programming.

At 5:20pm Shep is on for an update.

  53. Ed is now doing an update about the news from the press conference.

  54. This is more a story about a school security failure.

Armed police officers in schools, private and public, K-12 and college, should’ve been a thing after Columbine … not to mention Virginia Tech and Sandy Hook. Wayne LaPierre is a kook but he was right about that. But the politicians don’t care because their kids go to private schools where there’s security there to protect them. Why would they give a damn about the security of the peasants?

  55. THE BUZZ: Vanity Fair has proclaimed George W. Bush a “bona fide hipster icon.” The magazine says that the former President’s passion for painting, love for animals, use of social media, biking hobby and tech savviness have a driven him from being the most “uncool” and “unpopular” president to a hipster sensation.

  56. “Why would they give a damn about the security of the peasants?”
they won’t as long as votes are taken for granted.

  57. The school had a freaking active shooter drill. That says it all. There shouldn’t be a drill for this. Whackjobs who walk in to a school with guns should be greeted immediately by a trained police officer with a weapon drawn.

I can’t believe this is freaking rocket science.

  58. “Does MSNBC realize that Colorado has strengthened its gun laws in the wake of Aurora and Newtown? Or do facts not matter to them?” – Andy

I have lived in CO for the past two years. People are very casual and natural about their guns. Most people I know here started shooting when they were in their teens and they are good law-abiding citizens. I think, just IMO, that it’s more a matter of mental health issues and adults not wanting to get involved when kids act out of the norm. But that’s the case in many states and there aren’t mass shootings like here. My sister says it’s LOO – lack of oxygen. My prayers to all involved, especially the teens who were shot.

  59. Have armed security at schools. Keep nuts from getting guns. Both are NRA policy. Both would actually accomplished something.

  60. It makes my blood boil that there wasn’t an armed officer there. At the very least, these kids might get the help they need before they do something stupid instead of killing themselves and other people.

  61. Does it bother anyone that we have to have “Active Shooter Drills” in public schools now? This should not be necessary

  62. Keep nuts from getting guns. Both are NRA policy.

No, you don’t get to revise history. The NRA opposed any measure that would prevent crazy people from buying guns because “slippery slope”.

  63. You got a plan for paying for a cop at every public school in America? It’s not realistic.

  64. “You got a plan for paying for a cop at every public school in America? It’s not realistic.”
Get rid of the unions forcing the keeping of bad teachers. Then a trained armed guard per school — easily affordable.

  65. Sure, we’re just gonna crush the unions. I said “realistic”.

  66. Fox-Bashers should follow the example of Media Matters: declare victory before you think your reliving Ground Hog Day comments:
    http://www.truthrevolt.org/news/media-matters-declares-victory-over-fox-news

  67. Don’t have to crush unions, just knock ’em down a deserved peg. Too many bad teachers are unfireable.

  68. A bad teacher can’t teach a live kid let alone a dead one.

  69. You got a plan for paying for a cop at every public school in America? It’s not realistic.

A lot of counties and states already do this. It is realistic. But the politicians in a lot of places don’t care. They put several armed police officers in the county government building. They have metal detectors and other physical layers of security at the county buildings, courthouses, police stations and other government buildings. But you can walk right in to a school with a gun in plain sight where there are hundreds of kids? It’s obscene.

The politicians don’t care because it’s not their kids in those schools and it’s not them or their bureaucratic friends who are going to get killed.

  70. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

….it reveals her for the rightwing hack I always said she was.

As opposed to left wing hacks.

  71. sounds hateful too, Nixon.

  72. Aljazeera America is having all kinds of technical issues. They had a really good discussion going about tax policy on Ali Velshi’s show that got cut off because of technical issues and now, on The Stream, I have no idea what their discussion is because they missed the intro.

  73. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

And given the time frame and location of Jesus’ life, it’s actually highly unlikely that he was white.

He was a Hebrew, a semite. They are generally accepted to fall into the “white” category. As much as some would like to rewrite history for their own personal political reasons, what is there is there.

  74. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    sounds hateful too, Nixon.

Yeah, but I’m an a**hole. What do you expect?

  75. didn’t mean your comment, Nixon

  76. – what is there is there –

And who gives a crap? Even within the parameters of the silly conversation, nobody but Megyn was harping about Jesus’ race. I feel ill even typing those words. She was out of line to do that, and to “reassure the kids” that Santa is white. It was bizarre and creepy.

  77. calling all kinds of things you don’t like “creepy” is kind of creepy.

  78. Thanks for your input, but I was talking to Nixon, who’s having an actual conversation about an actual topic. Give it a try.

  79. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    didn’t mean your comment, Nixon

I know it. I was just making a statement of fact.

  80. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Thanks for your input, but I was talking to Nixon, who’s having an actual conversation about an actual topic. Give it a try.

What’s really creepy is the Left trying to drag everything into being a racial argument. Santa Claus is whatever you want. St. Nickolas was white. Jesus is considered white, or caucasian, in the context of race. Had to be, he was a Hebrew.

And the Easter Bunny was white and died for our sins.

  81. It was the brilliant Megyn on Fox who turned Jesus and Santa Claus into a racial argument, all for a throwaway segment about a blogger that no one ever heard of.

  82. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

It was utterly stupid of her. Mabye instead of Santa Claus, they should talk about a sanity clause.

  83. http://www.ibtimes.com/sorry-megyn-kelly-jesus-probably-wasnt-white-1507658

There are a lot more articles like this.

Yeah, it’s actually probable that Jesus wasn’t white. So Megyn Kelly made herself look like a fool. And the blogger she went after had a point – which goes back to what I’ve said for years about Fox News not knowing jack about the black culture.

  84. This “What color is Santa” debate is even more idiotic than the Redskins name debates. It’s as idiotic as the rest of Fox News’ mythical War on Christmas BS.

  85. savefarris Says:

Sure, we’re just gonna crush the unions.

I mean, if the unions REALLY want to go with the new slogan, who are we to stop them?

The NEA: We’d rather see your kid shot dead rather than be taught by a quality teacher.

  86. If Jesus were black and the Jews killed him it would explain why Jackson and Sharpton hate Jews. Then again why did white Christian missionaries bring Christianity to Africa rather than visa versa? Was St. Paul white? Did he know the boss was black?

  87. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Semites are considered white. Take a course in anthropology.

  88. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

This “What color is Santa” debate is even more idiotic than the Redskins name debates.

I didn’t think it idiotic. But what do I know? I only am one.

  89. Fox’s charge seems to be not to inform or enlighten, but to create agita. It actually means ‘indigestion’, but I’ve always heard it as slight anger, frustration, general disquiet. There was no reason whatsoever to talk about that blogger, except to get people riled up over some imagined “threat” to Christmas, which she learned from The Master. And that’s what they do. They “discuss” some irrelevant BS, in order to get their viewers upset over…something. She’ll get killer ratings tonight, so what’s a little racial agita?

  90. “Thanks for your input, but I was talking to Nixon”

This is a blog comments section, not your private chat room.

  91. “that’s what they do”

kind of simplistic don’t you think?

  92. Q: Why are Fox shows like washing machines?

A: Because there’s an agitator in every one.

    RIMSHOT

  93. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

If I were Megyn, I wouldn’t apologize for a damn thing. Let the Leftists throw their tantrums. They will anyway, if not over this, over something else.

  94. No worries, people. Megyn is still always right. “Fox is a target, I’m a target, people who hate on Fox.” She’s clueless.

  95. she doesn’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to follow those clues.

might find a few in near proximity

  96. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

She knows what’s she’s doing. She’s right, and you know it.

  97. If by right you mean Right wing then yes.😛

She can’t turn Santa is white into it’s just people complaining because they hate FOX news.

FNC loves to complain about every other news channel so they just have to accept when Megyn does something silly people are going to make an issue of it and not just because they hate FOX news..

  98. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Ice, you complain about her and FOX every day. Most of us simply tune it out as background noise.

  99. I know posting about cable news on a cable news blog is just silly.
I should be posting daily posts complaining about the others posting here and talk about how awful Obama is.

  100. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Put a little variety in it.

  101. In case you missed all the “tongue in cheek” and “knee-jerk” and “race-bait”.

You ever get pissed off at someone, and they get mad back because “I can’t believe you’re yelling at me!”? That’s Megyn. If she screws up and you get mad about it, you’re the bad guy for daring to be mad at Princess Sparkle Pony. It’s foolproof.

    http://www.mediaite.com/tv/megyn-kelly-addresses-white-santa-remarks-slams-critics-knee-jerk-instinct-to-race-bait/

  102. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

I never, ever, lose my temper. Except when I do. That said, the author of the thing that set this all off is speciest for her penguin remarks. She’s the one who should apologize – to the boids.

  103. yeah, Ice. Jazz it up a bit. It’s not that you post on a cable news blog your idea of cable news; it’s that your critiques gets stale.

Your role as a disliker of Fox isn’t the problem. Complaining about the same thing over and over is boring. Your best stuff is just your reporting of who is on where and what they’re doing. That’s interesting, at least to me. I don’t watch most of the shows you do.

  104. It’s Heavy Irony night. Megyn made a scene about all her “haters” on social media; now Zerlina Maxwell is paying the price for daring to appear on Megyn’s show.

Ya know, Megyn, if you respond to all criticism with “people are being mean to me”, your fans are going to retaliate for you. Think about it, Princess.

  105. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    Obsessed much, Joe?

  106. I can’t believe the blogosphere is more concerned about what Megyn Kelly believes is the race of Santa Claus and Jesus and not with the Muslim convert who tried, and failed, to blow up a passenger terminal today at a Wichita, Kansas, airport.

  107. Nixon, I’ve been following this narcissist’s career since the days when she was banging the “crazy black guys are stopping people from voting” drum in 2008. I find her ability to be just awful at the drop of a hat – and utterly willing to deny and lie about it – fascinating. Your results may vary.

  108. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Yeah sure. Whatever. Uniformed people with clubs outside of polling places is OK. Great.

Narcissist? Nah. He’s on the hour ahead of her, keeping it pithy.

  109. Two guys in a black neighborhood who usually pulled the same retro “black power revolutionary” stunt in front of City Hall. Everybody in the neighborhood knew who those bozos were, and they did nor remotely warrant the “scary black man” coverage gave them for weeks, with Megyn one of the stars of that crapshow.

That was a long time ago, and I’d have thought she would be a little wiser by now. Nope.

  110. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

I can’t believe the blogosphere is more concerned about what Megyn Kelly believes is the race of Santa Claus and Jesus and not with the Muslim convert who tried, and failed, to blow up a passenger terminal today at a Wichita, Kansas, airport.

Some on the far left probably sympathize with the SOB in Wichita.

  111. wiser?

She seems to be at the top of cable news. Wise enough.

  112. The bottom line with Megyn is she’s news in Cable News World right now, especially this week. If I wasn’t interested in that sort of thing, I would be commenting on Inside Cheese Graters.

  113. There are no black cheese graters in republican homes.

  114. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Two guys in a black neighborhood who usually pulled the same retro “black power revolutionary” stunt in front of City Hall. Everybody in the neighborhood knew who those bozos were, and they did nor remotely warrant the “scary black man” coverage gave them for weeks, with Megyn one of the stars of that crapshow.

Rewriting history yet again? They were members of the New Black Panthers and were at polling places. They were charged with voter intimidation under the Civil Rights Act. Obama and Holder decided to drop it, because, to be perfectly honest, they see nothing wrong with it.

  115. Yes, I get that you think two black guys shouting in front of a polling place in a black neighborhood is something to freak out about. Most rational people think that’s ridiculous.

  116. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Most rational people think that’s ridiculous.

Most rational people think that carrying clubs and yelling at people within 50ft of a polling place is intimidation and a crime. And it was a mixed race neighborhood. Keep trying to excuse the unexcusable.

  117. Sure, we’ll just keep talking about the New Black Panthers and forget the actual topic that actually happened this week. Should be fascinating.

  118. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Sure, we’ll just keep talking about the New Black Panthers and forget the actual topic that actually happened this week. Should be fascinating.

    You brought it up, Joe.

I’ve been following this narcissist’s career since the days when she was banging the “crazy black guys are stopping people from voting” drum in 2008.

I simply pointed out the facts.

  119. Yes, I’m not saying it wasn’t discussable. I’m saying it’s run its course. We’re boring people to tears, and I’m exhausted.

  120. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    I’m exhausted.

Could be worse, Joe. We are expecting 8-10″ of snow by tomorrow evening. Now, that’s entertainment!

  121. We don’t really do snow here in California as a weather event. It’s that thing we drive to for fun, then drive home.

  122. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Well, there’s always earthquakes to liven things up.

  123. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

^ And, I’ve been in earthquakes. No sir, I didn’t like it.

  124. One more thing about the Santa business. I was reminded of the setup because Megyn played it again tonight. She said she saw the Slate headline and “had to laugh at yet another person claiming it’s racist to have a white Santa”. That’s the premise for the Wednesday bit: Megyn is fed up with all the “white Santa is racist” claims. Is this a problem?

  125. I was here for the ’89 quake that collapsed the Cypress Freeway and a section of the Bay Bridge. It’s not so much the force, but the duration of it, that causes the most damage. That earthquake went on forever.

  126. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

I was at March AFB for the ’79 Imperial Valley quake. 120 miles away and still did quite a bit of damage. It started with a sharp jolt, then the ground rolled for a bit. Probably 25 – 30 seconds in all, but it seemed a lot longer. We had aftershocks for quite a while.

  127. On the second day of Christmas
    liberals sent to me:
    2 Charcoal Santas
and ObamaCare in a Pelosi Tree

  128. Those poor New York liberals – what to do?

“We are the Obama people,” said Camille Sweeney, a New York writer and member of the Authors Guild. Her insurance is being canceled, and she is dismayed that neither her pediatrician nor her general practitioner appears to be on the exchange plans. What to do has become a hot topic on Facebook and at dinner parties frequented by her fellow writers and artists.

“I’m for it,” she said. “But what is the reality of it?”

No more pie in the sky dreaming for these folks. Cold hard reality has hit!

    http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/14/nyregion/with-affordable-care-act-canceled-policies-for-new-york-professionals.html?smid=pl-share&_r=0

  129. A couple of point re the Santa thing. Megan and her producers had to know what they were doing would create a controversy. It was a planned segment and her comments weren’t adlibbed they led off the segment. It was all planned in advance.

Her excuse that it was a “joke” and “a tongue in cheek message for any kids watching”. I seriously doubt there were many “kids”, who still believed in Santa, watching a PT Fox News program. If so they need to get a life.

This whole episode is following a well worn pattern of hosts who say stupid things on air. 1st: Plan a segment to make fun of some politically incorrect story. 2nd: When it all hits the fan say you were joking. (which is where we are now) 3rd: Give a standard “if anyone was offended” apology. 4th: If possible move on and vow to get whomever suggested the idea was a good idea in the first place fired -unless it was you of course

  130. all the WHOs in WHOVILLE love Megyn, but always grumbling on their hill outside the community snipe the jealous liberal grinches.

  131. I still don’t they why Megyn l won’t have the author of the article on her show or did the author refuse to appear?

Instead she has an African American woman Zerlina Maxwell on to defend the issue who is then told in the next segment when Megyn talks to an African American Bishiop to get over it and he tells Megyn she is doing a good job.
So it was Megyn explains her comments, talks to the black woman and talks to the black bishop who is a fan.😛
Why not have both guests on at the same time so the bishop could insult Zerlina Maxwell directly?

I hope Megyn does a segment on the nasty and racist hate speech Zerlina Maxwell is getting for her segment on FOX News.
FNC likes to push the myth that only liberals are racist and use hate speech.

  132. Zerlina Maxwell ‏@ZerlinaMaxwell 13h
Thought I at least avoided being called the n-word after appearing on @megynkelly tonight but then i went to my facebook inbox:-/

  133. From Newsbusters:

“MEGYN KELLY: Back now to Santa. Ms. Harris, who wrote the original article and then went on a rival cable network to describe our segment as angry, lamented online that she hasn’t been asked on our show. We extended that invitation to her tonight, but Slate denied our request. Apparently, that website would rather sling the arrows from the privacy of its offices than allow a fair and balanced debate.”

  134. If that’s the case then I say bad on the author for not going on Megyn’s show.

The segment Friday however was not a fair and balanced debate.
Megyn talks to Zerlina Maxwell then talks to Bishop Harry Jackson who tells Zerlina Maxwell and others to get over it.
Both guest were shown at the start of the segment and should have been on at the same time to debate the issue.

I hope Megyn is as outraged at the racist comments being said to Zerlina Maxwel on social media as she is about haters talking about her on social media over her Santa segment.

Thanks, Carol. No matter what happens, the left will continue to beat this dead horse.

The social media sites make this blog look like a high class debate society. Things like Twitter are cesspools that I avoid like the plague. Most comments posted after various news articles, on newspaper sites and such, are barely literate at best, usually vulgar, and best ignored.

  137. Brian Stelter ‏@brianstelter
Writer who started the “Santa controversy,” @craftingmystyle, says Fox didn’t reach out to her personally. She’ll be on @CNNReliable Sunday.

I’d love to hear the rest of this story. “Fox asked Slate, Slate said no, nobody talked to Ms. Harris” doesn’t make a lick of sense.

  138. The social media sites make this blog look like a high class debate society.

Which is why it was BS for Megyn to turn last night’s segment into “people are hating on me”. She blew off the “white Santa and Jesus” segment as “I was being lighthearted”, then complained about all those bad people on the internet being mad at her. It was dishonest blame-shifting, and a complete waste of air-time.

  139. The LEFT doesn’t much believe in Santa or Jesus. They deserve a lump of coal — at least it’s black.

Frankly, she should’ve simply blown it off and left it at that. She turned a one day story into a week-long turdfest. Unless…..She thinks that any publicity is good publicity.

  141. “Fox didn’t reach out to her personally. She’ll be on @CNNReliable Sunday”

^^It will be interesting to see how Kurtz treats this story tomorrow. My guess it will get a mention as a ‘much ado about nothing’ story, but no serious debate. Howie hasn’t exactly been hard on his host network since he started at FNC.

Do you complain about your bosses, Fritz? It’s the old adage, “Don’t crap where you eat.”

  144. Unless…..She thinks that any publicity is good publicity.

This is what I suspect. Ms. Kelly seems to regard any negative opinion of her outside of the rightwing mediasphere as inconsequential and without merit. She apparently is not worried that she bizarrely inserted herself into a ridiculous left/right racial spat, and is not bothered that “white Santa, white Jesus” is becoming her “thrill up the leg”. Oh well.

  145. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

There’s a lot on TV and radio like that, Joe. Ego writ large.

  146. It will be interesting to see how Kurtz treats this story tomorrow. My guess it will get a mention as a ‘much ado about nothing’ story, but no serious debate. Howie hasn’t exactly been hard on his host network since he started at FNC.

I’ve seen enough of Media Buzz now to hope he skips this. It’s not a particularly serious media criticism show, and all FNC-related segments invariably get turned into the “why you hatin” crap Megyn was dishing last night. Let Stelter handle it.

  147. Howie used to criticize CNN, on occasion, and I believe he made a point of saying that Fox wouldn’t be immune. I haven’t seen much evidence of that, and we shouldn’t be giving him a pass for giving them a pass.
This was either a brilliantly conceived, flawlessly executed publicity stunt, or an unwanted peek into her delicate racial psyche. Either way, I’m done with it. There’s actual news elsewhere.

  148. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

There’s a third possibility. It was an attempt at comedy that backfired.

  149. There’s a third possibility. It was an attempt at comedy that backfired.

If that’s true, saying so would have been nice. But nooo..Megyn couldn’t do “I was trying to be funny and it didn’t work. Sorry about that.” We were told we took it too seriously, she didn’t mean nothin’ by it, and we’re a bunch of haters. ‘Cause ya know, it’s our fault we didn’t get the ‘joke’. Right.

  150. Nixon I agree that anyone can say nasty things on social media, some at FNC however wants to spin it as only liberals use hate speech at conservatives and that’s nonsense.

How many segments is FNC going to do on the hate speech being directed at Zerlina Maxwell after going on Megyn’s show? I bet none.
If she was a female conservative getting bashed with racist comments FNC would talk about it.
Megyn should say the comments being said about Zerlina Maxwell are wrong.

“It will be interesting to see how Kurtz treats this story tomorrow. ”

This is the problem with FNC. The us vs them media coverage as if they are not a part of the media.
When you do a show about media and do segments on how the media is covering a story FNC should be induced in the discussion.
I’m sure Reliable Sources talked about CNN when Kurtz was the host.

  151. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

I never heard of Zerlina Maxwell, I didn’t see Zerlina Maxwell, and, to be honest, I don’t give a crap one way or the other about Zerlina Maxwell. Does that answer your question?

  152. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Joe, Megyn is like so many others blinded by fame that can’t or won’t admit being wrong.

  153. Nixon, I agree that some famous people are like that, but it is not a widespread malady among them. In my experience, most people from all walks of life are willing to know when the gig is up and admit they blew it. Megyn is simply not one of those people. She always lands herself on top; people bothered by her attitudes and statements are always the ones with “the problem”. That is pure, diagnosable narcissism..a quite unpleasant thing to be around.

  154. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Personally, I leave diagnosis to those qualified in the field. Sure, she’s self-centered, as are others on FOX, MSNBC, and CNN. I don’t worry about. And, to be honest, I haven’t been watching much of the evening lineup. I haven’t seen Megyn in a couple of weeks. It’s all a waste of time to me.

  155. “Pierson also appears to mock Republicans on another Facebook post, writing “you republicans are so cute” and posting an image that reads: “The Republican Party: Health Care: Let ’em Die, Climate Change: Let ’em Die, Gun Violence: Let ’em Die, Women’s Rights: Let ’em Die, More War: Let ’em Die. Is this really the side you want to be on?””

Any reporter mention the guy was a liberal in their newscasts? Of course not! Only if you are conservative do your political beliefs become part of the story.

  159. That’s a nice piece of conservative victimization you have there, Pam, but the reality is that none of these school/mall/theater shooters are being reported as politically motivated, no matter what is on their Facebook page.

  160. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

That’s a nice piece of conservative victimization you have there, Pam, but the reality is that none of these school/mall/theater shooters are being reported as politically motivated, no matter what is on their Facebook page.

In other words, ignore the evidence, in their own words, of them being leftist kooks.

You have to look at the whole picture. In this latest case, he came back to shoot the librarian/debate coach for kicking him off the team. He couldn’t even do that right.

  161. That is BS ^ and you know it. Selective memory anyone?

The Denver Post edited out a comment by a fellow classmate who called Pierson a “committed socialist”. Daily Mail has complete quote.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2523597/Debate-coach-praised-leading-Arapahoe-High-School-shooter-Karl-Pierson-outside.html

    “very opinionated socialist.”

    Figures.

How’s the snow, Larry? We have 9″.

  163. Yes, I think it would be wise to edit an extreme political statement from some kid in an article about another screwed-up kid who shot some people, then himself. Really, folks..let’s get some perspective here. Most of these shooters are very young, and clearly in very bad shape. Politics has nothing to do with it.

  164. Nixon, the most southeast tip of Ohio, me, got no snow. Rained all day.

  165. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Editing a pertinent fact out of a news story is never a good idea. And I can only imagine how the punk conducted himself during a debate.

  166. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

You’ve lucked out, Larry. This is more fun than a barrel full of whatever comes in barrels.

  167. There is no evidence that the kid’s politics was a pertinent fact. Everybody learned from Tucson that trying to ascribe politics to a massacre by a deranged lunatic was a REALLY bad idea. My statement that the media is avoiding doing this again is proven by the Denver Post.

  168. “Any reporter mention the guy was a liberal in their newscasts?”

^^MSNBC interviewed a couple of students who said the guy was a socialist and had strong political views. I guess that’s why he did it. You know mocking Republicans one day trying to murder them the next. Evil left and all.

  169. I have to laugh when going to break during the FOX News Reporting show,
FNC runs a promo saying the FOX News Reporting DVDs make a great gift and you can buy your favorite FOX Fan any of the FOX News Reporting specials.

One of the DVDs they show is the Kermit Gosnell special.

Yeah I’m sure friends and family would love to get the Kermit Gosnell special as Christmas gift.😛

  170. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Joe, getting kicked of the debate team was the motive. The pertinent facts are why. Did he let his politics cloud his judgement? Remember, these debaters are expected to debate from all sides, playing “Devil’s advocate,” if required. Was he a hothead with a bad temper? Or, was he just a commie punk with a chip on his shoulder.

  171. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Fritz, he was only trying to kill one specific person, and shot another who got in his road. We have no idea of the political views of the debate coach. For all we know, he might have a Mao tattoo like Mike Tyson. (I seriously doubt that Tyson even knows who Mao was)

  172. Joe, getting kicked of the debate team was the motive.

This is an extremely preliminary observation, and – as in most cases with these events – may turn out to be hogwash. Nobody goes on a shooting spree ending in suicide because they got “kicked off the debate team”. He was 18; apparently mentally ill; and now he’s dead. The Post was right to pull wild political assertions from the article.

  173. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Nobody goes on a shooting spree ending in suicide because they got “kicked off the debate team”

I doubt suicide was part of the original plan.

People do all kinds of stupid things, Joe. They just arrested a guy for the murder of a teenage girl in ’88 up in the South Bend area. The dumbass thought there was a statute of limitations on murder and started bragging to a bunch of people. There are a good number of mentally ill out there, but their numbers are dwarfed by the idiots.

  174. Hardly a “spree” thank God. After one guy.

  175. WTF! I just fell down the steps and you tell me I have no insurance. You gotta believe me, I signed up! Hello… Hello?

  176. Melissa Harris-Perry chimes in on Megyn and Santa,
    http://www.msnbc.com/melissa-harris-perry/letter-santa-claus-racial-lightning-rod

It’s funny on Friday Hannity and Brent Bozell were bashing Melissa Harris-Perry with Brent saying he wondered how she even got the job as professor. I’d post an exact quote if the segment was on FOXnews.com.

So anyone who criticizes Megyn is a hater but it’s ok to bash Melissa?

  177. After one guy.

What’s the point? Was he after one guy because he disagreed with his politics? Or because he just didn’t like him? Uhh..who cares? If you have an 18yo kid marching around school with a gun and winding up dead, it really doesn’t matter what his “reasons” were. The boy is dead and a 15yo girl is in critical condition. Find something else to have “they’re all mean to us poor conservatives” outrage about.

  178. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    Dear Melissa;

You aren’t getting anything. Commies always go on my naughty list.

    Regards;
    Santa

  179. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Most high schools have cops assigned, at least in metro areas like Denver. Was there one there, and if so, why didn’t he shoot this POS before he was able to shoot anybody?

  180. “Uhh..who cares”

Maybe some people do, maybe some people don’t. All you get to say is whether YOU care. Stop speaking for others. A habit.

Turns out the kid was on a debate team that competed nationally. No doubt a big deal to him. Me, I’d like to know what pushed him over the edge, but I’ll just speak for myself.

  181. I intend to go right on saying when I think people are making a stink just to make a stink. Specifically conservatives constantly looking for examples of how they’re being picked on like a bunch of babies. I do not care if one of them throws a fit when I push back. Toughen up.

  182. Nice of Pirro to say “Secret Service Bozos.”.
While she is right about it being a big scrutiny fail regarding the sign language inturperter she loses her credibility when she has to result to childish name calling. Were they Bozos to her when Bush was president?

So much for my “Mr. President, with all due respect.” drinking game. She never said it once. Plus it’s only coffee.😛

The weather sucks here. A snow storm, a car that won’t start and the hood latch won’t work so I can’t get to the battery and I don’t have one of those instant chargers that plug into the dash outlet.😛
    Any suggestions?

  183. Given that the American presidents and first ladies attended the event as invited guests, it follows that the security of who is and is not allowed to attend would be handled entirely by the South African government. It’s a safe assumption that the US Secret Service made certain no one in proximity had weapons.

Yes, she would have called them “Bozos” when Bush was president. “Childish name calling” by Judge Pirro is not a new thing.

  184. She really said that about the Secret Service? How Obama-deranged do you have to be to start treating the Secret Service like elected Democrats? Yeah, they screwed up, but it was reasonable to assume an assigned translator had been vetted by the home country before Mandela’s memorial service. That woman is vile.

  185. Ice, you’re gonna need a tow service to get that hood open. I don’t know any backyard mechanic’s tricks for that.

  186. She used the fake sign language interpreter as a way to bash the Obama Administration’s Secret Service and make many comments about the over seas sex scandals for her opening comment.
It was a real cheap shot that was not necessary to bring up.

She also said maybe they should of hired this person and then played this youtube.com/watch?v=butZyxI-PRs

Julie Banderas is not good enough to anchor yet they let Pirro host a show?

  187. Yes, the guy standing next to the President of the United States hallucinating that he was seeing angels in the crowd was hilarious. Let’s make a joke.

It was mildly amusing at first when it appeared to be a prank. This guy is schizophrenic, and admittedly violent. HA HA!!

  188. Julie Banderas wasn’t nasty enough to keep her hosting gig. I don’t think I ever saw her do that ‘sneering, sarcastic’ thing the other weekend hosts bring to certain stories. She was actually fair and balanced, and this was not acceptable.

  189. I’m more interested in how ICE is going to get his car started. Let us know the ending. Not an AAA member I take it?

  190. We have AAA and can call them. By the AM it’s supposed to be warmer so I’ll try again.

Geraldo is funny. He’s doing his show standing outside when they only talk about weather for the start of the show and the rest of it has nothing to do with weather.
Must be one of those Geraldo showing how tough he is things.

  191. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

You obviously forget when she co-anchored with Greg Jarrett. The two of them were perfect together, both as sarcastic as hell. It was actually entertaining.

  192. I remember Banderas on Fox Report. I’m not familiar with her co-anchoring with Snarky McSnarkerstan.

  193. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

  195. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

All of these Westboro Baptist “Church” type have their heads up their asses. Julie was as polite as could be expected.

  196. She used to insult him quite often.

    This…I would have enjoyed.

  197. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    She picked on him constantly.

  198. ^ And that’s ok. I was referring to the “let’s signal our disdain for liberal things” sarcasm that Childers and Faulkner practice. I don’t remember Banderas playing that card very often, if at all.

  199. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

She never did. Unlike Childers and Faulkner, she is actually a professional. Albeit a snide one.

  200. The local news says the Arapahoe kid had a couple guns, 3 incendiary devices, and a machete. He wasn’t there for just one guy..

  201. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Unless he left some sort of note or journal, we never will know what his plans were. Whatever hell he intended to bring forth, he must’ve changed his mind after shooting the girl and decided to end it.

  202. Thank God for that. The girl’s father said today she isn’t doing very well, so we’ll just have to wait and hope.

  203. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

She was shot at point-blank range by a shotgun. I am very surprised that she lived long enough to make it to the hospital.

  204. Oh swell, another “NBC host” promo from Fox Announcer Guy. Ed Schultz is an MSNBC host, dipwad.

  205. “Oh swell, another “NBC host” promo from Fox Announcer Guy. Ed Schultz is an MSNBC host, dipwad.”

^^This is the same as saying ‘Democrat’ instead of ‘Democratic’. It’s meant to get a reaction and you are just playing into their hands by responding. I know it’s pointless and petty but it only works when people comment on it; and so if there’s no angry response it has no value.

  206. Some people love to play along with the immature game. Fritz never does.

  207. Fix News is reporting a rampage of Democrat teens raging a war on Christmas as black Santas sucker punching unsuspecting white Santas. NBC host Rachel Maddcow reports it as little more than a cold weather trend.

  208. It’s time the DOJ face up to the threat of home-grown terrorism that is as dangerous as the Islamic brand. Teenagers reading how-to socialism insurrection manuals are turning to violence to incite anarchist revolution. Leftist media are editing the news to hide the facts.

  209. I wonder Megyn Kelly and her producers are having second thoughts about doing a segment on why Santa Claus is white; considering that they are now being mocked by John Stewart, SNL and the late night comics. I don’t think that was the plan when they first decided it was a good idea to play to their base by making fun of a ‘politically correct’ story on a blog.

  210. ^ I wonder if Fox ‘gets’ that all this business just makes them more of a joke, “NBC host” claims included. It’s frustrating to me, because I think they have some good journalists, over there. What must it be like for them to have to constantly explain that they’re not “opinion”, and they don’t constantly stretch things for the sake of titillation?

  211. “they are now being mocked by John Stewart, SNL and the late night comics”

And the $200 Jeopardy question to the FOX NEWS category is: “why is today like every other day.

  212. Why can’t black people and their liberal apologists stand that their kid might look up to a white man?

    #Jesus #Santa #Superman (you’re next, Krypton racist)

  213. Howard Kurtz didn’t spend too much time on the Kelly/Santa/Jesus topic, but he did say that Megyn bore some of the responsibility for the criticism. What I learned from all this: that Jews from the Middle East are not white, according to the non-FNC media. Never knew that. I’m sure Shimon Peres, Ehud Barak, Ariel Sharon, and Ehud Olmert will be surprised to hear that.

  214. Which is exactly what conservatives said he was doing, and were called loons and racists and whatever for saying so.

  216. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Can you imagine that if Jon Stewart and Rachel Maddow had a kid, what a swarmy, smirking, self-important little a-hole it would be?

  217. What I learned from all this: that Jews from the Middle East are not white, according to the non-FNC media.

What I learned from all this: that people are now debating Jesus’ race, which outside of Biblical scholarship is just weird and depressing.

  218. ^ Joe, I think that’s why Kurtz said that Megyn needed to take some responsibility for this kerfuffle. Aisha Harris never mentioned Jesus in her article; Megyn brought up the topic of Jesus’ race. I think Jesus was white but other people don’t. Doesn’t really matter to me. His skin color doesn’t change my religious beliefs.

  219. I know it’s pointless and petty but it only works when people comment on it; and so if there’s no angry response it has no value.

I do not agree that it’s “pointless and petty” to respond to cable news shenanigans on a cable news blog. If you’re positing that it’s pointless and petty to visit a cable news blog, well, you’re on your own there, mister.

  220. — “pointless and petty” to respond to cable news shenanigans on a cable news blog —

    Yeah, that’s just crazy talk.

  221. “that Jews from the Middle East are not white, according to the non-FNC media. I’m sure Shimon Peres, Ehud Barak, Ariel Sharon, and Ehud Olmert will be surprised to hear that.”

^^I doubt it Carol. They’re smart enough to know the difference between one’s religion and one’s race. Those fed a steady diet of reality through the filter of FNC not so much.

  222. Doesn’t really matter to me. His skin color doesn’t change my religious beliefs.

Exactly. Every story I’ve read on the internets about the segment is followed by a comment section almost exclusively devoted to her bizarre Jesus comment, even after she disavowed that part Friday night. The whole thing – including her “I was kidding; Aisha Harris and I agree; myself and Fox are targets” double-down – was just weird.

  223. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Comment sections after nearly every article, no matter the original subject, seem to be exercises in mental onanism.

  224. Here’s CNN’s take on Megyn,
    http://www.mediaite.com/tv/black-santa-author-on-megyn-kellys-response-she-played-the-victim/

As the author correctly says Megyn made it about Megyn and proved the point of the article.

  225. Howard Kurtz didn’t spend too much time on the Kelly/Santa/Jesus topic, but he did say that Megyn bore some of the responsibility for the criticism.

All. She bears all the responsibility for the justifiable criticism of deciding that there was “another person claiming it’s racist to have a white Santa”. As far as I know, there is no widespread debate over Santa’s race. Megyn Kelly took a minor article from a young African-American on Slate, and turned it into an “issue”. I’m sure there is a legitimate story to be told about how some black kids deal with certain commercial images in our culture. I am also sure it’s not a “problem” sweeping the nation which required a defense of white Santa on Fox News.

  226. “All. She bears all the responsibility for the justifiable criticism of deciding that there was “another person claiming it’s racist to have a white Santa”.”

^^I don’t agree Joe. This wasn’t some off the cuff adlib. It was fully planned segment and the comment was planned in advance. So her producers bare some of the blame for not telling her it was a stupid idea. That’s what they’re paid for. The host/producer relationship here is no different than the Bashir case although you could make the argument what he said was stupider.

  227. So what. Great fun and let the huff and puffers strut their stuf.

  228. Fritz, you’re picking an unpickable nit. Howie’s “bears some responsibility” means he thinks Fox and Kelly are not solely responsible. He was not saying the blame is shared among the Kelly File production team.

  229. Noticed Reliable Sources ramped up the “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas” story to #2 on your media hit parade importance for a very busy week. With just the sympathetic host chatting with the Slate authoress, pretty much a one-side Fox bash. Gives you an idea of where this program is going. No surprise for a variety of reasons.

  230. I love the claim that she was “jesting” or whatever she’s saying. She sounded irritated, defensive and condescending, and was clearly intent on reassuring the kiddies that Santa (and Jesus) just IS white, and that’s all there is to it.
The author seems like a perfectly nice lady, and God forbid, she and Megyn might have had a nice conversation. Nah, can’t have that. Might be too challenging for the audience.

  231. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Somebody needs to apologize to the penguins for dragging them into this.

  232. Per RELIABLE SOURCES, the first invitation extended to the Slate nice lady was too short a notice. Another has been extended, but as of this morning, the nice lady hasn’t decided to accept.

  233. To be a guest on THE KELLY FILES.

  234. I love the double standard. It’s ok for FNC to complain about the liberal media bias and talk about how the MSM cover stories yet when FNC gets criticized for how they cover a story it’s only being done because they are a highly rated cable news channels and everyone is haters. FNC should never be called out because they are fair and balanced.

Funny how no one has a problem with Sean Hannity and Brent Bozell bashing and name calling the hosts at MSNBC going beyond the content of the MSNBC segments,.

  235. “They didn’t reach out until just before the show was airing,” Harris said. “It felt like a last minute thing, almost like a slight.”

Because it was such a pressing story, they couldn’t either delay it or give her sufficient notice. No, they had to get right on it, because of the clear and present danger to our traditions, and have the usual hacks on to discuss it. Right.

OH, that was for the followup. She say that they did not call her for the initial program. So, wrong again.

  236. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Ice, NBC’s farm team, MSNBC, gripes about FOX constantly. It’s a way to get attention.

  237. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

She say that they did not call her for the initial program. So, wrong again.

Assuming that she is telling the truth. Anybody who would lie about penguins, will lie about anything.

  238. So, they didn’t call her for the original program, they just had their usual panel of two conservatives, a liberal and Megyn to discuss it. Then for the followup, they call the author at the last minute, so as to have a plausible story about the woman declining to appear. This just gets better and better.

  239. The point is the nice lady now has the opportunity to state her case on a show more than a handful of people watch. Will the nice lady take it? I can hardly wait… yawn.

  240. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

So, they didn’t call her for the original program, they just had their usual panel of two conservatives, a liberal and Megyn to discuss it. Then for the followup, they call the author at the last minute, so as to have a plausible story about the woman declining to appear. This just gets better and better.

Mabye they did call her and she turned them down. And now is playing the victim. As a famous woman once said, “What, at this point, does it matter?”

  241. The bottom line is Megyn got it wrong by summing up as it’s just another article from a writer saying it’s racist for Santa to be white.

The other thing that was lost in this is, that was Megyn’s opinion on what she believed the article was about and as a straight news anchor she is not supposed to give an opinion.
She’s supposed to present the story for her guests to debate.

  242. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

The other thing that was lost in this is, that was Megyn’s opinion on what she believed the article was about and as a straight news anchor she is not supposed to give an opinion.

Congratulations on your ten thousandth post complaining about her lying about being a straight news anchor. Repetition is repetitive.

  243. you can say that again

  244. Yeah and you have no problem with others posting post after post that the people complaining about Megyn are just haters.

Megyn is the one that said many times that she is a straight news anchor doing a newscast not me.

  245. — repetition —

It goes to credibility. If we’re going to hear about her extensive legal background, then she knows all about a lawyer’s tactic of repeatedly mentioning untruths on cross-examination. Were you lying then, or are you lying now?

  246. Complaining about the complaining is also repetitive.

  247. “Howie’s “bears some responsibility” means he thinks Fox and Kelly are not solely responsible. He was not saying the blame is shared among the Kelly File production team.”

^^I haven’t seen MB yet so I stand corrected on Howie’s take. My point was about the original stupid decision to go to air with a segment on Santa’s race in the first place.

We can now await Kelly’s “if anyone was offended ” fake apology which will only give the story longer legs. If she had just come out the next day and said she was sorry for bringing up race in the context of Santa Claus we would all be talking about something else now – or maybe not.🙂

  248. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Yeah and you have no problem with others posting post after post that the people complaining about Megyn are just haters.

Did I ever say that? No. However, your constant harping on the anchor subject is tedious. It is every day. We get the point. The horse is dead, it is decomposing. There is no need to beat it further.

  249. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Were you lying then, or are you lying now?

Many lawyers don’t know the difference between a lie and the truth. The successful ones know, but don’t care.

  250. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

If she had just come out the next day and said she was sorry for bringing up race in the context of Santa Claus we would all be talking about something else now – or maybe not.🙂

Yeah, like that white Donald Duck refusing to wear pants. Now that is a story.

  251. On third day of Christmas
    liberals sent to me:

    3 Megyn repetitions
    2 Charcoal Santas
and ObamaCare in a Pelosi Tree

  252. Show me a lawyer who doesn’t know the difference between a lie and the truth and I’ll show you a career about to swirl down the loo.

  253. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Show me a lawyer who doesn’t know the difference between a lie and the truth and I’ll show you a career about to swirl down the loo.

That’s why I said the successful ones know the difference, but don’t care. The others go into politics….or TV.

  254. or become disability advocate lawyers

  255. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    or become disability advocate lawyers

    Wearing cowboy hats in Manhattan.

  256. “Wearing cowboy hats in Manhattan.”
    The Binder & Binder ad?😛

  257. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    The Binder & Binder ad?

Yep. I find the cowboy hat and the Empire State Building in the background hilarious.

  258. I just watched Howie’s show and he played the Santa incident pretty much as I said earlier- a “much ado about nothing” story where poor misunderstood Megan is the victim of everyone who just don’t get her kinky sense of humor.

I still await her fake ‘if anyone was offended” apology.

  259. You might want to stand on your head while you wait. Makes the time go faster.

  260. In 80 seconds after entering the Colorado school, an armed deputy cornered the shotgun wielding student. He then took his life. The most effective method of gun control.

  261. Gregg Jarrett, filling in on The Fox Report: “Even the mainstream media is saying Obamacare isn’t going well.” Uh, Gregg. You’re a supposedly straight-news anchor on a supposedly straight-news show. The mainstream media isn’t this other thing somewhere else. You’re it.

  262. Mainstream media: NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, and CNN. Kissing cousins. They walk alike, they talk alike, at times they even squawk alike. You could lose your mind, when MSM is five of a kind.

  263. Huckabee has un funny conservative and comedian Ryan Reiss talking to people in Times Square about Obamacare as an Obama impersonator takes selfies with them. Is a news talk show or a lame comedy show?

Gregg Jarrett on The FOX Report Weekend? Were all the FNC women on vacation?😛

  264. No, you don’t get to be a major player in news media, and pretend you’re still the little rebel upstart. FNC is mainstream media.

  265. I still await her fake “if anyone was offended” apology.

That’s not gonna happen. Fox has already circled the wagons and declared themselves victims. We’re expected to “get over it” and “move on” now. That’s the way this game is played.

  266. “That’s not gonna happen. Fox has already circled the wagons and declared themselves victims. We’re expected to “get over it” and “move on” now. ”

^^I don’t see it playing out that way. I think she’ll have to apologize (at minimum the fake one) for this to end. As it stands now she’s made it worse with her ‘excuses’ and I see the Sharpton gang getting involved next.

If that happens then were into the usual racial back and forth between the networks that we’ve seen so often in the past. I’m thinking of that fake controversy over the Muslim author’s history of JC or the New Black Panthers dustup from a few years ago.

  267. If opinion host Melissa Harris Perry can be criticized by FNC for saying rich white people invented the racist phrase Obamacare than the other news channels can criticize straight news anchor Megyn Kelly for giving her opinion that Santa and Jesus are white and person who wrote the santa article was being racist.

  268. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Mainstream media: NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, and CNN. Kissing cousins. They walk alike, they talk alike, at times they even squawk alike. You could lose your mind, when MSM is five of a kind.

Now I have the theme song of that damn show running through my head.

  269. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

OK, since some want to argue about the race of Santa, or make a big deal out of a flippant remark, I’ve got another one for you. What race is Mr. Hankey?

    Hidey ho!

  270. The bottom-line is that Aisha Harris is an unknown “culture blogger” on Slate, with a couple thousand followers on Twitter. Someone had to be actively seeking a source of racial discomfort in order for her little article to find its way onto The Kelly File. Now, what possible reason could there be for doing that? I cannot begin to imagine.

  271. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

It sure has gotten the unknown Harris quite a bit of publicity. The question is – who brought this to Kelly’s attention? Does a producer or other assistant need scalped? Or, is Megyn a dingbat who took the bait?

  272. Doesn’t have to be an “or” in there.

  273. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

I was giving her the benefit of the doubt. I’m a sucker for a pretty face.

  274. A hot dog makes me lose control.

  275. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    You can lose your mind,
When cousins are two of a kind.

  276. The bottom-line is that Aisha Harris is an unknown “culture blogger” on Slate, with a couple thousand followers on Twitter. It sure has gotten the unknown Harris quite a bit of publicity. The question is – who brought this to Kelly’s attention? Does a producer or other assistant need scalped? Or, is Megyn a dingbat who took the bait?

Oh, I have no doubt Fox News trolled the internet looking for this since it falls in to their “War on Christmas” and their “Liberals turn everything in to a race thing” thing. It was a tongue-in-cheek article that actually raised some valid points. Megyn made herself look like a fool – and right wingers are making themselves look like fools defending Megyn.

Like I’ve said many times, FNC doesn’t have a clue about the AA community. Harris made a valid point. Santa Claus is a fictional character, so why does this fictional character have to be a white guy? It’s not something any of us would give a second thought to because, well, we are white so the perception of what this fictional character looks like is that he’s one of us.

And Megyn’s insistence that Jesus and Santa were white is where she made herself look like an idiot. They probably weren’t white. It’s possible but not likely that they were. Nobody knows for sure. So Megyn made an absolute statement that has no basis in reality.

She claims to be a news anchor, she needs to start being held to the same standards Brian Williams and Scott Pelley are held to.

  277. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Once again, the leftists think they know more about how members of various ethnic groups think, than members of the groups themselves. A-freaking-mazing.

  278. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

And, for those who insist that the Hebrews weren’t white, I’d suggest that you enroll in an anthropology class. He was descended from Abraham thru David on his Blessed Mother’s side. His Father has no race.

  279. Um, Aisha Harris has pretty much said what I said. Unlike you, I actually read her silly little article and her follow up article. And I actually got the point of it.

She was asking why cultural icons and fictional figures who are held up to children as heroes have to be white. Fact is, nobody knows what color Jesus or St. Nicholas was. And it’s not just Santa. It’s almost every childhood hero. Batman, Superman, James Bond, Luke Skywalker, Harry Potter, Spider-Man, Snow White, Belle, Princess Leia… I can do this all night.

Aisha Harris had a point. Megyn Kelly deliberately missed the point and made herself look like a complete fool.

  280. So, yeah, “Santa just is white” was a completely idiotic remark and misses the point of what Aisha Harris said. Deliberately so. She could’ve had an actual conversation about the content of Harris’ commentary or, hell, invited Harris to come on. She chose not to. Because she doesn’t want to have this conversation. Because Aisha Harris is right.

  281. As far as I know, Aisha Harris’ little article was never mentioned on any other Fox show. As Megyn said, “I had to laugh when I saw the headline…” I think she picked the topic, and may not have even read beyond the title. The actual article is (as Andy said) kind of silly after making its central point, and not very well written.

  282. How about that Mandela send off today? Not device enough for you? Never mind.

  283. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Unlike you, I actually read her silly little article and her follow up article. And I actually got the point of it.

I read the article. I would suggest that you speak only for yourself, considering that you were utterly wrong on that point.

And, yes, we have a real good idea what race the historical Jesus was. I notice that you chose to skip right past that. And the real St. Nicholas. He was Greek. When the Dutch came up with Sinterklaas, Holland was virtually white. That is why he is portrayed as such.

So, you leftists can try to rewrite history, like you are want to do, but the facts are there. The argument is idiotic and Harris was just trying to get attention with her bullsh*t.

  284. Try to imagine me as a more prolific writer on Politisite. Can you then imagine, for even a moment, Rachel Madow or LOD discussing one of my articles as though it was a sign of some worrisome conservative encroachment? Even Bashir wouldn’t sink that low.

  285. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    not very well written.

    We agree on that, Joe.

Megyn took the bait and looked silly. She ought to drop it, not even mention it again.

  286. Also, if you read the article, nowhere does it say “white Santa is racist”, which was Megyn’s premise for “having to laugh at the headline”. The first – and so far only – person in this stupid story to claim racism is Megyn Kelly. She made it up.

  287. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Try to imagine me as a more prolific writer on Politisite. Can you then imagine, for even a moment, Rachel Madow or LOD discussing one of my articles as though it was a sign of some worrisome conservative encroachment? Even Bashir wouldn’t sink that low.

You’re a good writer, Laura. And smarter than Maddow or LOD. I mean it, I’m not just blowing smoke.

  288. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Megyn was looking for an angle, brought up racism, and ended up being a fool. Not everything is about race, Blondie.

  289. Megyn took the bait and looked silly. She ought to drop it, not even mention it again.

Well, I don’t think it was “bait”. I suspect our college-age “culture blogger” is quite surprised at the attention. I also suspect Megyn is quite done discussing it. Apart from an actual “my bad, I made a mistake here” – that’s not gonna happen – I don’t think she will touch it again.

  290. In the future, we’ll all be trolled by famous people for 15 minutes.

  291. Man, this “Obamacare sucks” Bret Baier special, well…sucks. Kirsten Powers!

  292. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

To quote Nancy Pelosi, “Embrace the suck.”

  293. Pat Cadell! Fox has been introducing this guy as “Jimmy Carter pollster” for a decade..never mentioning that he’s been a Republican at least twice that long.

That “report” played liked a longform Republican CPAC ad. It’s ludicrous to have a straight-news anchor involved in a project like this.

  294. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Pat Cadell! Fox has been introducing this guy as “Jimmy Carter pollster” for a decade..never mentioning that he’s been a Republican at least twice that long.

Him and Doug Schoen are Democrats. Old school liberals, not the type that call themselves that today.

  295. Pat Cadell can call himself whatever he wants, but he plays a conservative Republican for the boss. I’ve seen him on Red Eye and elsewhere dozens of times. That ain’t no liberal.

  296. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

The “liberals” nowadays wouldn’t call Hubert Humphrey one, either. The term has been hijacked and bastardized by the far-left. Caddell is true to his original principals. How many current “liberals” have any principals? Any core values? Damn few.

  297. At any rate, Cadell’s politics are tangential to my central point, so I’ll stop at “disagree”.

  298. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

I’ll agree there, Joe. The definition seems to have changed quite a bit over the years.

  299. Yes Bret was spot on. OBAMA and OBAMACARE and all things OBAMA pretty much suck. As phony as liberalism itself.

    FOURNIER: THE DEVOLUTION OF OBAMA
Ron Fournier considers a recent WaPo report about the administration delaying controversial rules ahead of the 2012 election for National Journal. Fournier offers this scathing criticism, “The Obama White House put politics before governing in 2012, lied about it, and still won’t own up to it…Obama’s apologists will say that every president plays politics with policy in elections years. Two problems with that. First, Obama promised to be better than the status quo. Second, he’s worse.”

    http://www.nationaljournal.com/white-house/politics-trumped-policy-truth-for-obama-s-reelect-20131215

  300. “Even Bashir wouldn’t sink that low.”

He sunk well below that, so yeah.

  301. “@BuzzFeedBen: Libertarian Radio Host Neal Boortz: “I’m Sorry, Santa Claus Is White, Deal With It.” http://www.buzzfeed.com/andrewkaczynski/santa-waronchristmas-megynkelly

  302. Megyn was looking for an angle, brought up racism, and ended up being a fool. Not everything is about race, Blondie.

Which was entirely my point. It was a silly article that had a point – a point Megyn completely missed. Like Joe said, nobody ever said “White Santa is bad”. She was being silly while asking why all our childhood heroes have to be white. I already wrote off a list. It’s not racism and it’s actually a valid point.

And, yes, we have a real good idea what race the historical Jesus was.

No, we don’t. If we did, there’d be no debate about it. 100 years from now, some new evidence will come out which suggests Jesus was actually a midget and was green or something. We really don’t know.

  303. RE: Caddell

If David Gergen gets to be a “former member of Republican Administrations”, then Caddell is a Democrat.

  304. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

And, yes, we have a real good idea what race the historical Jesus was.

No, we don’t. If we did, there’d be no debate about it. 100 years from now, some new evidence will come out which suggests Jesus was actually a midget and was green or something. We really don’t know.

I listed his family tree, so I assume that you are ignoring the evidence because it doesn’t meet whatever agenda that you are trying to push. He was a Hebrew, a Red Sea pedestrian, they were, by definition caucasian. White. This isn’t opinion, this is fact.

  305. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    Rachel Maddow is a nightmare!
    http://dailyhowler.blogspot.com/2013/12/rachel-maddow-is-nightmare.html

Not only is she a disingenuous elitist loon, she seems to have a serious problem with Italians. So she’s a bigot, as well.

  306. I listed his family tree, so I assume that you are ignoring the evidence because it doesn’t meet whatever agenda that you are trying to push. He was a Hebrew, a Red Sea pedestrian, they were, by definition caucasian. White. This isn’t opinion, this is fact.

Beyond that, there has been a lot of debate about it. I don’t deal in absolutes like you do. There is tons and tons of scientific evidence that suggests the ancient Hebrews weren’t Caucasian at all. You can click your heels together and say “Jesus was white” three times but there’s no absolute, definitive proof ether way. He probably wasn’t white. And nobody knows for sure what he was. So don’t proclaim your opinion as “fact” because it’s not.

Regardless, this is as idiotic as the Redskins name debates.

Aisha Harris was right. Our fictional childhood heroes are white and it is awkward for anyone who isn’t white.

  307. And now, this time of year, I read dozens of Facebook posts from raging right wingers about “IT’S MERRY CHRISTMAS NOT HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!” and “Keep CHRIST in CHRISTmas!!!” because they all eat up Fox News’ fictional War on Christmas crap. It’s creepy.

  308. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

I don’t deal in absolutes like you do.

You don’t deal with facts, either. The family tree came from the Bible. Now if you don’t believe that, then this falls into the category of not really being anything that needs to concern you.

Regardless, this is as idiotic as the Redskins name debates.

For someone so concerned about the feelings of non-whites, you have absolutely no problem throwing that into my face. So, I guess that it’s only certain races you care about, and we redskins can go and f**k ourselves.

  309. BTW Jesus looked like any other Hebrew of the time, i.e. he was caucasian. That’s why they had to pay Judas to pick him out of a crowd. Liberals talking about Jesus are like liberals talking about guns or the NRA. Ignorance doesn’t deter any fear of looking stupid as long as they talk loud enough.

  310. The only Santa I know who is black is Obama and a fraudulent one at that.

  311. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

By the way, Andy, this is the second time in this thread that you made the same redskins crack. I’m not going to fall for the race baiting of the ignorant. “niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani” means that I am proud to be a redskin.

  312. Colorado Police Chief

“All the weapons that he possessed, he possessed legally,” Oates said at the Friday evening press conference. “And all the clips that he possessed, he possessed legally. And all the ammunition that he possessed, he possessed legally.”

So what do liberals want to do next. Hint: “If you like your guns, you can keep your guns”.

  313. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

BTW Jesus looked like any other Hebrew of the time, i.e. he was caucasian. That’s why they had to pay Judas to pick him out of a crowd. Liberals talking about Jesus are like liberals talking about guns or the NRA. Ignorance doesn’t deter any fear of looking stupid as long as they talk loud enough.

Larry, you can give them all the evidence you want and they eventually respond with idiocy and name calling like a 13 year old.

I think that I’ll claim He was a redskin. Even though He was 5000 miles away, facts don’t seem to matter anymore.

  314. What’s ignorant, Nixon, is the debate over someone’s skin color. It’s as ignorant as the debate over Obama’s place of birth. I don’t care if Jesus was a one eyed, one horned, flyin’ purple people eater. I actually grasped the big picture in Aisha Harris’ commentary and understand the point she was trying to make.

Megyn completely ignored Aisha’s valid point, tried to put words in Aisha Harris’ mouth, didn’t bother actually having her on the program to discuss it like Chris Hayes did, refused to actually discuss the actual merits of Aisha’s commentary, then whined and cried and tried to play the victim card. Howie Kurtz can give her a free pass and all of the Fox fans can give her a free pass but she doesn’t get one from me.

Why does every childhood hero have to be a white man? It’s a valid point. If you don’t understand that, then it’s on you. And before saying that I know more about what other people think than they do (which you’ve already tried saying once). This wasn’t a point raised by a white liberal, it was raised by a black woman.

  315. Megyn is the one that said many times that she is a straight news anchor doing a newscast not me.

  318. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

It’s as ignorant as the debate over Obama’s place of birth.

This, folks, is what is called a red herring. Nobody has even mentioned that, but, what the hell, let’s drag that out as a distraction.

  319. Yet you still miss the point. Aisha Harris made a valid and provocative point. Megyn deliberately missed the point. And she deserves the criticism being thrown at her.

  320. I love how MSNBC’s meteorologists always make it a point to stand in front of the Roanoke area on their weather maps so we can’t see it.

  321. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Yet you still miss the point. Aisha Harris made a valid and provocative point. Megyn deliberately missed the point. And she deserves the criticism being thrown at her.

I got the point long ago. And I agreed that Megyn looked ridiculous. Now it has gotten to the point of you acting like an adolescent, right to the point of throwing in little racial digs.

    Go bother someone else .

  322. But this is what you said to me:
Once again, the leftists think they know more about how members of various ethnic groups think, than members of the groups themselves. A-freaking-mazing.

The bottom line is, FNC does not know a thing about the black culture and will never know. Anyone and everyone who actually read Aisha’s article gets it. And it’s a good point which is why Megyn deliberately ignored it. It’s typical Fox News Channel.

  323. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

I meant it, Andy. You think that you know more about being blacks than most blacks themselves. Then you roll out the boilerplate FOX derangement syndrome. Now be sure and throw in a racial dig, once again.

Go bite somebody else’s ankles, Muttly. I am through with you.

  325. “FOX derangement syndrome” – how cute.

Megyn Kelly deliberately missed the point and made up her own set of facts by putting words in Aisha’s mouth. Then she tried to play the victim card.

“You think that you know more about being blacks than most blacks themselves.”

Quit putting words in my mouth. I made a statement which is spelled out in Aisha’s article.

  326. Greta visited a Syrian refugee camp in Iraq. At least a ‘primetime’ host on FNC is covering a real issue/news story and not trash i.e. Santa’s race.

  327. Did anyone watch the “Hey, how ’bout that NSA” segment on 60 Minutes last night? I didn’t because I’ve given up on that ridiculous show, but the blowback sounds like I didn’t miss much.

  328. No Megyn on the New Years Eve show. Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Bill Hemmer are hosts this year.

  329. I’m good as long as Coop and the loose woman are back.

  330. “Greta visited a Syrian refugee camp in Iraq. At least a ‘primetime’ host on FNC is covering a real issue/news story and not trash i.e. Santa’s race.”
While that is good she is covering other stories she is right back on Obamacare tonight,
    Monday on ‘On the Record’
ObamaCare: What’s next in the rollout of the Affordable Care Act? Special guests: Sen. Tim Scott, Rep. Trey Gowdy and more!

    Monday on ‘The Kelly File’
Tonight on ‘The Kelly File’ how budget cuts will impact military families and veterans. Plus why Americans are blaming ObamaCare for rising premiums. And a manhunt is underway for suspects in a NJ mall shooting.

Premiums never went up before ObamaCare because of changing plans or moving into a different age bracket?

  331. I watched 60 Minutes, and didn’t mind seeing NSA state their case. I suspect intentions are honorable though the dangers to liberty are real.

  332. savefarris Says:

Premiums never went up before ObamaCare because of changing plans or moving into a different age bracket?

Obama passed the law on the explicit promise that premiums would STOP going up.

Pointing out that the law utterly fails to meet it’s goals seems worth reporting on, no?

  333. People used to seeing their premiums go up 10%, not 200%.

  334. Knockout game attack on white Santa?

  335. Knockout game attack on white Santa?

Interesting, Larry. I went up to Moraviantown, ON for the 200th anniversary of his death in the Battle of the Thames.

Some of my forbearers fought alongside him. The Miamis started the war as allies of the United States. Then William Henry Harrison ordered Miami villages along the Mississinewa River burned. Why? In revenge for them refusing to give up more land when he was Governor of the Indiana Territory. After the betrayal, many warriors switched sides.

Joe is going to love this one,
    “Tonight on ‘The Factor’
A left-wing NBC News host takes thousands of dollars from unions, while promoting their causes on air!
Bill goes inside the controversy on The O’Reilly Factor.”

Again NBC News is not a TV channel and Ed hosts a show at MSNBC.
I’m surprised they did not say “far left” like Hannity does.

  339. AJA’s Nicole Mitchell was getting bashed on FB for calling a Holiday Party a Holiday Party. Thanks O’Reilly.

    I saw that.

“You mean Christmas party because it’s the only holiday coming up”

    Wrong.

A left-wing NBC News host takes thousands of dollars from unions, while promoting their causes on air!

When radio DJ’s took money from record companies and promoters to play certain records in the 50’s and 60’s, it was called payola. That was a crime. Taking $250000 from unions, while having people like Trumka on for infomercials falls under the same ethical category. Don’t expect MSNBC to do anything, though.

MSNBC – The Place for Pimps, Panderers, and Go-Betweens.

  341. OT, but…RIP, Joan Fontaine.

“And a manhunt is underway for suspects in a NJ mall shooting.”

The state of NJ has one of the strictest gun laws in the US. But that didn’t stop those two carjacking thugs from murdering an innocent 30-year-old newlywed after he did some holiday shopping with his wife. So sad.

  342. Meanwhile, Rush Limbaugh again stated today that every mass shooter was inspired by leftists.

If this is the vile crap the right believes, it’s no wonder we can’t all get along in this country.

  343. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Carol, like you and I know, only the law-abiding pay attention to the laws. The only thing these laws accomplish is to make it easier for the criminals since the victim is very likely unarmed.

I hated those (censored) movies. Somebody should’ve scalped Laughlin.

  353. Lets be honest, the reason the NJ mall story is getting national coverage is because it’s in an “Upscale area” and is a “High end mall” all code for a mall where rich people shop and there are not many undesirables around.

  354. On fourth day of Christmas
    liberals sent to me:

    4 brainless gun control laws
    3 anti-Megyn repetitions
    2 Charcoal Santas

that might be another reason there will never be another BillyJack.

“I am going to take my left foot and hit you upside your face and there is nothing you can do about it.

  356. Yeah I just discovered the cesspool that exists inside Mediaite. Even at its ugliest, the ICN comments section never gets that bad. I appreciate every one of you. LOL.

  357. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

“I am going to take my left foot and hit you upside your face and there is nothing you can do about it.”

In real life, he would’ve found out what could be done about it before he even finished that sentence. Then, he would’ve ended up in Al’s ER to have that left foot removed from his rear</em..

  358. I love you too, Andy >group hug<

  359. Billo. Fox is a victim. Megyn is a victim. We’re going to talk about “white Santa” and “white Jesus” until Christmas Day because those a-holes can’t admit a mistake. It’s disgusting.

  360. The FNC obsession with MSNBC continues. First Bill complaining about Ed Shultz and unions.
On Hannity’s show he is complaining about what a guest said on the Melissa Harris-Perry Show.
Again Hannity lies and says NBC News when the show is on MSNBC.
It’s gotten to the point that Hannity is complaining about people giving their opinion on an opinion news talk show.
Melissa Harris-Perry is not doing a newscast.

  361. Another comical thing. Hannity plays a clip of a student from the Colorado school shooting high school saying the shooter was a socialist.
He then goes on to say the media is trying to cover up that the shooter was liberal.
The only problem is the clip he played was from liberal MSNBC. It was not even from his own network.
How is the media trying to cover up that the shooter is liberal if MSNBC played that clip?

  362. Hannity is an idiot. The only place I heard about Crazy Shooter Guy’s politics was from MSNBC. Brilliant.

  363. Probably because Brian Ross isn’t on the case.

  364. Some of the shootings are graspable because the killer was flat out nuts, but this latest one seems different, something’s missing. As someone who hasn’t yet been even able to pull the trigger on an invading coyote, I can’t picture what could possibly have been going on in a outwardly normal person’s brain to blast a girl with a shotgun just because she was near? For all the grief he’s bringing them, me might as well have pulled the trigger the same instance on his own family. The fact the attack was well premeditated — something’s missing.

  365. Hayes starts his show talking about the Gorge Washington Bridge lane closures.
Has FNC done any segments on this?

  366. Dear Bill O’Reilly,
Santa is not real. Since he is not real, he can be whatever kids want him to be. I envisioned Santa to be a samurai warrior.

  373. Letterman mocking FNC, welcome to liberal monotony. Same old there, same old here.

Hey, Dave, keep your hands off the help.

  374. What Tom Laughlin accomplished was much more that making a few movies per the NYT:

““Billy Jack,” which was produced for about $800,000 in 1969, was initially distributed the old-fashioned way: Mr. Laughlin sold the distribution rights to Warner Bros., which undertook a modest publicity campaign in selected markets for a limited test release. If it was well received, it would be introduced into other movie markets. If not, not.

“Billy Jack” got tepid reviews, did good but not huge business, and was withdrawn from theaters after selling about $6 million in tickets.

But Mr. Laughlin, certain that his movie had been sold short, began a two-year legal battle to reacquire the distribution rights. He won, and in 1973 he mounted a nationwide advertising campaign, arranged for the rental of 1,200 theaters across the country and rereleased “Billy Jack.” This time it made $80 million and caused Hollywood to rethink its approach to releasing films.”

  375. The left is correct. Santa isn’t white. He’s just in white face at every mall in the country. And, since he is white he should be replaced with a Penguin. Penguin, right? I forgot. Or maybe a zebra? Hell, just make it a black bear and call it a day.

But, don’t forget, Megyn is the crazy one for stating the obvious.

  376. “Megyn Kelly white Santa” jokes on Letterman. Welcome to popular culture, Meggs.”

Late night comics, SNL and Stewart/Colbert are non partisan mockers. When you say or do something really stupid they mock you. I expect the GWB lane closings to be the fodder for jokes this week; as that certainly meets the bar of doing something really stupid.

  377. “Megyn is the crazy one for stating the obvious.”

Megyn is crazy for being stubborn and not seeing the obvious conclusion that this is not going away until she says she’s sorry.

  378. the obvious is Santa is white.

  379. savefarris Says:

… Funniest thing I’ve read all week

  380. Only Leno is truly non-partisan. The rest are liberals and they tilt liberal. Only a liberal wearing liberal blinders would see otherwise. The humor against conservatives is much meaner. Letterman’s attacks on Bush were beyond the pale.

  381. Obama’s approval ratings at the lowest of any President at this point in office but Nixon:

  382. “I expect the GWB lane closings to be the fodder for jokes this week; as that certainly meets the bar of doing something really stupid.”

I highly doubt that the late-night comics will touch the GWB lane closings. Santa is much easier. And Rachel is a frequent guest on Letterman. He wouldn’t make fun of her.

  383. “I highly doubt that the late-night comics will touch the GWB lane closings. Santa is much easier.”

^^It is easier to make fun of someone saying Santa has a particular race; but the sheer stupidity of closing down part of the busiest bridge in the world to traffic and figuring no one except a single politician would notice is pretty funny.

“And Rachel is a frequent guest on Letterman. He wouldn’t make fun of her.”

    ^^What???

  384. “Megyn is crazy for being stubborn and not seeing the obvious conclusion that this is not going away until she says she’s sorry.”

    Which says it all.

    1. Race hustlers want an apology for something all day, every day.
    2. This country is so racist and run by racist whitey honky crackers that any semi-controversial statement uttered by a cracker must be swiftly apologized for. Or, else you must be sent to re-education camp.

  385. “I got a Santa picture!”

^^Great article Laura. Pretty much the way I saw this story happening.

Funny how most of the discussion here, and other places, is all about whether Santa is ‘really’ white or not. It doesn’t really matter if he’s black, white or gray. The real story is Kelly and her producers thinking it was a good idea to bring up the subject in the first place.

  386. Best thing about Megyn/Santa gate was the minor twitter feud yesterday between Tommy Christopher and the guy at Mediaite who spiked his story about Megyn Kelly and “white privilege” (ding!). TC was butt-hurt because there weren’t as many mediaite stories about Megyn and her “white supremacy” as there were about poor Martin Bashir who was hung out to dry for standing up to the man!

Awesome stuff. Megyn states the obvious and is villified not only for being a racist (of course – I mean EVERYBODY knows she’s a racist) but also for being a white supremacist and every other crazy lefty adjective out there.

  387. The real story is a bunch of fox haters beating a dead horse. Which isn’t much of a story.

  388. The real story is in Laura’s article. The “Megyn was right; everybody’s mean to Fox; let’s keep talking about how Santa is white” silliness proves her point.

  389. From the digital pen of Obama’s favorite pundit: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/12/17/wonkbook-jeff-zients-gets-another-month-to-fix-healthcare-gov/

But wait, Ezra: all we’ve been told for the past two weeks was that the website was fine and dandy!

  390. The most real of the real stories is the real fact Santa is white proveing liberals can’t see straight when it comes to Santa or Fox,

  391. Congratulation, Megyn. “Santa really is white, he just IS” is now a conservative mantra for Christmas. Heckuva job.

Didn’t Rachel recently do a story about the GWB and blamed Chris Christie? I thought she would be made fun of because she spent so much time on it. I may be getting my stories mixed up. Sorry.

  398. “Didn’t Rachel recently do a story about the GWB and blamed Chris Christie?”

^^Rachel was one of the first reporters to take the story national. She held off covering the stunt for two days after it became public because she and her producers thought the premise of the story was to crazy to be true. After no reasonable explanation was put forth for closing the traffic lanes she started updating the story every day.

No one, that I’m aware of, including Rachel, has said Christie was directly involved with the original incident. This appears to be the work of some crazy Christie appointee who has an alleged history of these kinds of stupid stunts.

“I thought she would be made fun of because she spent so much time on it.”

^^Maddow loves stories like this. The only ones being made fun of here are Christie, his flunkies and Fox News for pretending the story doesn’t exist.

  399. Why would someone make fun of Rachel over the Jersey story? Two people so far have been fired for turning a town into a parking lot, and there’s still no explanation. That’s emergency vehicles stuck in traffic, people. You better have a damn good reason for taking that risk..

  400. Maybe when covering the GWB story MSNBC should do like FNC and say “The story that other news channels are not covering.”.

FNC is to busy over covering Obamacare to cover the GWB story.
Plus Christie is a republican. If the NJ governor was a democrat I wonder if FNC would already be covering it as a scandal?

  401. “If the NJ governor was a democrat I wonder if FNC would already be covering it as a scandal?”

Another thing to point out is that is ad is obviously selling to the Hayes/Klein demographic. And if Obama still hasn’t made the sale on THEM, what makes him think he’s going to convince the average American?

  417. Yes, on the first week of school the bridge traffic got backed up into the town of Fort Lee, just as has been described. To date I have not seen – and that article does not produce – a “traffic study” which would warrant backing up the town of Fort Lee during the first week of school. Most of the article is spent b!tching that Rachel should be spending her time feeding the little children. Or something. Useless.

  418. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    Useless.

I agree. The whole “scandal” is useless. And Rachel is simply another MSNBC hack, trafficking in phony outrage.

  419. You say the story was debunked yet people who worked for the NY NJ Port Authority have resigned.

  420. What that “hack” is trying to determine is if a potential presidential candidate is involved in stacking up a bridge because he was pissed at somebody. As I said, intentionally creating a traffic jam is not a safe situation for emergency responders, and you damn well better have a good reason for doing it.

    1. We need that traffic study. 2. If it surfaces, we need a justification for it, ’cause I got news for ya: I already know what happens if you shut down lanes on a major bridge on the first week of school. You don’t even have to run the exercise. Send me a check and I’ll have the answer for you, pronto. Easy money

  421. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

You say the story was debunked yet people who worked for the NY NJ Port Authority have resigned.

It was debunked as the Great Massive Conspiracy that MSNBC wants it to be. Two people resigned because they screwed it up.

  422. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Christie is not going to be the nominee, even if he runs. MSNBC is just trying to do the DNC’s dirty work and try to smear him. They needn’t bother. He’ll do that on his own.

  423. Joe this ‘scandal’ is still in very early days. There are hearings upcoming in New Jersey and probably in Washington.

The thing that gives this story real legs is that, at it’s heart, it’s easy for voters everywhere to understand. They all know about traffic jams and hate them.

The idea that political appointees would cause a traffic jam on purpose as political payback will not play well in the suburbs anywhere in the country and tying Chris Christie to the stunt will be politically deadly, even if he had nothing to do with the original political dirty trick.

He needs to come out tell the whole truth, toss whomever under the bus and apologize unreservedly. Anything else and we will be talking about this story next summer – and longer.

  424. “MSNBC is just trying to do the DNC’s dirty work and try to smear him.”
Like the RNC is having FNC do to liberals with Obamcare?

  425. With all the trivial fire directed at FNC, it’s good to remember they rule the competition combined as 2013 comes to a close.

    Congrats!

  426. He needs to come out tell the whole truth, toss whomever under the bus and apologize unreservedly. Anything else and we will be talking about this story next summer – and longer.

That’s what mystifies me. It’s pretty clear somebody screwed around with that bridge – you would never block off a major throughfare at peak time unless it needed emergency repair – so why doesn’t Christie just say “dis effin guy, he really screwed the pooch”, and be done with it? When you laugh at reporters and give ’em the whaddyakiddinme for asking a reasonable question, this tends to make them work harder…

  427. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

“MSNBC is just trying to do the DNC’s dirty work and try to smear him.”
Like the RNC is having FNC do to liberals with Obamcare?

Obamacare blew up like a Wile E. Coyote special. Nobody needed to have anybody do anything for that story to take off.

  428. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

The idea that political appointees would cause a traffic jam on purpose as political payback will not play well in the suburbs anywhere in the country and tying Chris Christie to the stunt will be politically deadly, even if he had nothing to do with the original political dirty trick.

The dream that is was “payback” or a “dirty trick” is mental onanism. Who was he getting revenge on? His own people?

Which is why two months later Christie won in a landslide.

  429. and any wishful thinking ObamaCare will just fade from the public disgust is blowing smoke. Next year businesses will decide the additional coverage requirements are too much and will dump employees into the exchanges. Outrage over high premiums and false promises will only grow exponentially.

  430. savefarris Says:

You say the story was debunked yet people who worked for the NY NJ Port Authority have resigned.

You say the Shirley Sherrod story was debunked and yet…

All Bush’s fault, Larry. Every bit of it.

  432. Talking on PBS NEWSHOUR last Friday, Mark Shields in response to Obama falling poll numbers threw out the old Democrat lifeline, “but they like him personally”. You don’t hear that much any more, because people don’t trust Obama: they DON’T much like him.

The incessant lying tends to upset people. And this guy lies constantly.

  435. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

The governor does not have his fingerprints on the lane closures. His inner circle hasn’t even been implicated. But now that two men in the outer-rung of Team Christie — Baroni and Wildstein, long-time Christie associates and poobahs in New Jersey politics — have fallen, Democrats smell blood. (Christie and Wildstein went to high school together; Christie yearbook photo to the left). Democrats are awaiting subpoenaed correspondence indicating that Christie’s front office or campaign team either: a) Ordered the lane closures as retribution against the Fort Lee mayor, who didn’t endorse Christie, or b) Tried to suppress information from getting out after the traffic jam. This may be the stickiest controversy Christie has faced over his entire four years in office.

This is called being desperate to find a pony under a big pile of horsesh*t.

  436. Sure, Nixon. It’s all horsesh*t that the Fort Lee mayor refused to endorse Christie, then his town got shafted the first week of school, then two of Christie’s guys resigned, and still no one can figure out why the bridge was screwed with. And Christie isn’t answering questions about it.

Come on, man. There should be a simple explanation here, and one is rather oddly not being produced. The people involved have had 3 months to figure out why such an unusual and disruptive shutdown occurred, and we still got bupkus. It’s always the cover-up…

  437. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Mabye he did it to impress Jodie Foster.

Here, we had a county (Howard) that had over 100 homes destroyed in last month’s tornado. Plus a flattened shopping mall. However, it wasn’t declared a disaster area. No counties in the state were. No FEMA help. Do you think that it was because Indiana went for Romney last year?

  438. Interesting (to me, anyway) is that the Port Authority came to be almost a hundred years ago largely as an effort to reduce political corruption.

Looks like a quaint idea, now. In this state, whatever party controls the county gets a cut of the fees collected in the county by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Legalized corruption.

  440. According to CBS 2 New York, there has been ongoing emergency repairs to GWB that’s led to major traffic delays including yesterday. From their website:

There were epic traffic delays, yet again, Monday night, because of emergency repair work at the George Washington Bridge.

And then on Tuesday the head engineer at the bridge told CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer that we haven’t seen the end of this.

The engineer admitted there’s nothing they can do to fix the ongoing problems.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is the agency responsible, but the governors of New York and New Jersey do have a say. There were calls on Tuesday for Andrew Cuomo and Chris Christie to do something before it happens again.

The traffic backs-ups have been potentially life threatening. The emergency repairs to the GWB have caused massive rush hour gridlock in New York City three times in the last month, including Monday night.

If the emergency repairs aren’t made, it just might be more than potentially life threatening. Remember the Interstate 35 bridge in Minnesota?

  442. The people involved have had 3 months to figure out why such an unusual and disruptive shutdown occurred, and we still got bupkus. It’s always the cover-up…

I could’ve come up with a better excuse in three minutes.

  443. Associated Press had an article Aug 2 about the then upcoming beam replacement work on the bridge that was to be completed by year end, and about the Port Authority’s fear that motorists wouldn’t heed the traffic delay warnings. From other articles about te project it appears to be that this work has led to unanticipated cracks appearing, which is why they’re doing the emergency repairs.

The accusations of a political motive being the reason for blocking off lanes are entirely speculative. Given the abundance of reporting over the past few months on the problems with the repairs of that very old bridge, it wouldn’t be much of a stretch to speculate about some non-political reasons. Also worth noting is that Gov. Cuomo’s office hasn’t responded to questions about the closures, either.

  444. I’ll await further developments. I don’t understand why “emergency repairs” wasn’t the immediate, documented answer before Christie blew the press off and two people resigned. This no make no sense.

Al, some are so desperate to see political motives behind things, that they simply refuse to see the facts.

  446. Nix: I’m not ready to completely blow-off the accusations. Joe linked a Matt Katz (NJ public radio) article that, on its face anyway, appears legit. What’s missing to my satisfaction are the details and footnotes regarding the legislative hearing his article is based on.

Just because I don’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t real.

  447. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Al, it simply looks like poorly handled planning for delays caused by the needed repairs. And it appears that the Port Authority’s fears about motorists not being prepared for the delays were justified.

Of course, they could’ve not done the repairs and took their chances that the whole thing wouldn’t drop into the Hudson.

  448. “Fox haters don’t want to hear the facts here, MSNBC haters don’t want to hear the facts there”..it’s all bollocks. You look at the facts as you get them, and if more/better/different information leads you to a new conclusion, you go there.

Holding on to “my side is right, your side is wrong” at all costs is ridiculous. If the GWB closing turns out to be legitimate, and a bunch of politicians looked silly over it for no reason..so be it. We’ll see.

  449. I don’t understand the logic of the accusation. How can it be that anyone would think this mayor would experience “punishment” by the closing of the bridge? A more logical outcome would be that he’d get some sympathy from his constituents who are all abundantly aware that the Port Authority runs the bridge.

  450. I don’t think anyone is expecting logic to be involved. The accusation is that some guy was pissed at some other guy, and decided to take it out on the town Other Guy runs. Kind of a Jersey “up yours” thing. Like I said earlier, this thing only has legs because people resigned and Christie stiffed the press. It’s the response to “nothing” as though they’re covering for “something” that’s feeding the fire.

  451. I’ll buy that, but Gov. Cuomo also stiffed the press. His office, like Christie’s directed reporters to the Port Authority.

  452. Well, Cuomo didn’t make a crack about “putting the cones out”, then shout “Are you kidding me!?” as if it was all much ado about nothing and the press should get over themselves. While he didn’t answer the question and his office directed reporters to the Port Authority…

  453. Hopefully the nowhere bridge yakking will quiet itself a while until something concrete is built. As Governor Christie once exclaimed “Are you kidding me!?”

Or maybe that was John Boehner.

Or maybe that was my mother.

but, by all means, let’s hear it ONE MORE TIME!

  454. Where does it stop?

“I now pronounce you Man and Sheep”.

  455. Much more fun than BLACK SANTA:

“The last word is you’re not the bigger people. Don’t kid anybody,” Klayman said. “Let anybody watch this and see that CNN removes you from the screen when it doesn’t like what you think. You know what, you’re not CNN, Don, and Toobin, you’re not CNN. CNN is a reputable organization, but you have not acted in a respectful way, and it’s in fact disgraceful. You’re more like Martin Bashir.”

  456. CNN cut someone off? I thought only big bad FNC did that! LOL

  457. This is my favorite cable news thing in the whole world: Person goes on network, then spends the segment harassing the host/network for existing. There were a few Tea Party types who used this schtick on MSNBC in the ’08 election, to predictable results. The point seems to be to yell at people, then gloat about it on Twitter. That’s pretty stupid.

  458. Snide liberal hosts introduced Klayman as a nut in setup to discuss his win in a milestone court case. Klayman shoved it down their throats. Only another liberal would be taken aback. LOL

  459. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    Where does it stop?

“I now pronounce you Man and Sheep”.

    That’s baaaaaad, Larry.

  460. “New FOX News Poll…”
How many days of programming segments is FNC going to do based this FOX News poll?
To start a news hour with a FOX News Alert based on a poll is just silly. Polls are opinions they are not news.

It seems some of the news channels would father fill their news hour with more discussion segments and less reporting.

Hopefully my cable provider eventually adds AJA in HD.
