When Chris Christie (allegedly) blocks traffic for political gain, it’s an international news story for days at a time. Billions of gallons of ink are spilled.

When Obama blocks traffic for political gain…

    http://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20120917/flatiron/gridlock-expected-as-obama-returns-for-beyonce-jay-z-fundraiser

  2. Christie just too big a target for the media to ignore😉

  3. Conspiracy theory alert: So did the media hold this story so they could take the attention off of the Gates story? IMO it is so convenient that Gates made the news for what – 2 days? – and all of a sudden the emails & texts become available?

The Gates book was known to be in the works, the publish date was known, within the Washington DC connected there had to be rumors about what was going to be said and when the craps starts to build around Obama/Biden & Hilary all of a sudden!!! (oh my!) the texts and emails on this issue are available to be published.

I am not in ANY way saying that Christie shouldn’t be grilled mercilessly about what happened and if he is implicated he should be held accountable. I am just commenting on the timing of all of this.

  4. Short rant.
I think the habit that cable news nets have gotten into lately, particularly CNN, of using their dayside programs to promote their upcoming documentaries has gotten way out of hand. I’ve seen a number of segments recently on CNN Dayside about it’s upcoming documentary ‘Sole Survivor’ that threat the promotion as if it were real news. It’s not.

All three networks are guilty of this practice but CNN has taken it to new levels of late.

  5. “So did the media hold this story so they could take the attention off of the Gates story?”

    ^^Their is no “Gates story”.

It’s a book promotion and his publishers have put out a few juicy, out of context, quotes to drum up interest in the book. Nothing Gates said is the least bit controversial if you consider the source and context.

It’s the same thing the publishers of the new Roger Ailes bio are doing.

  6. WELL, FRITZ,
If you are the mother or father of a soldier killed or maimed in Afghanistan finding Obama sent your son on a mission he had no confidence in just because he called it “the right war” in a political campaign, well, you are probably think it more of a story than the parents whose kid was late to school in a manufactured traffic jam in NJ.

  7. fritz: that comment – “Nothing Gates said is the least bit controversial if you consider the source and context.”

That “source” you deride worked for presidents of BOTH parties. So…are you saying that Obama was an idiot for asking the guy to stay on? Did Gates hold a gun to Obama’s head and say I want to stay and you better keep me on or else? I thought Obama was the SMARTEST president EVER! (sarcasm alert)

In addition to that if there was “nothing to see here” why did Chuck Todd spend about 1/3 of his Daily Rundown on the story yesterday, and why did Andrea Mitchell cover it on her show yesterday? I thought these were the above reproach NBC NEWS folks that aren’t biased!

Be sure to take those blinders off when you go outside so you can see when you need to cross the street so you don’t get hit by a car – we need your loopy analysis here for us to mock!

  8. 3/4 of the soldier deaths in the 12 year Afghanistan came after Obama took office, but did he champion their cause that was supposed to be his “the right war”? No, not as he pranced around the country bashing Republicans, did he ever explain to the public the goals and progress of the mission. Shame on him.

  9. That damn CBS News & Cheryl Atkisson still looking into that non-story of Benghazi! Don’t they know this IS NOT – I repeat, IS NOT a story. There is nothing to be learned anymore. The NY Times has told us what the real story is, since they had a reporter ON THE SCENE as the the attack was going on (sarcasm alert). No more reporting needs to be done.

    http://hotair.com/archives/2014/01/09/cbs-state-dept-renewed-lease-on-benghazi-consulate-without-security/

  10. Like JOE THE PLUMBER, Gates pulled back the curtain on the deceiver in chief, and liberals, as in 2008, are scrambling to pull it back.

  11. Pam what did Gates say that was so controversial? It seems to be pretty much his opinion of the conventional wisdom, of most people, at the time.

  12. savefarris Says:

The only thing keeping the economy from turning back into a dumpster fire? The one industry Obama absolutely loathes: http://www.the-american-interest.com/blog/2014/01/08/american-energy-booms-on/

  13. Gates supplied actually quotes to cement the conventional wisdom. Yeah, we thought it. Now we know it.

  14. By the time Fatty Arbuckle’s innocence was proved, his career was over. Pretty much shows little has changed in the power of the media when it’s out for blood. (And they still like to get the fat guy.)

  15. icemannyr Says:

“Conspiracy theory alert: So did the media hold this story so they could take the attention off of the Gates story? I”

If they did it did not work. CNN and MSNBC were covering both stories in their news hours and talk shows.

FNC basically ignored the GWB story on their news hours except for a quick headline read. They only did full segments on the GWB story during their 7pm and 9pm shows.

You need to remember the full aspect of this.
Chris Christie claims he did not know this was an intentional political move by his staff.
Similar to how President Obama says he did not know or have any involvement in the various scandals.

Chris Christie was also mocking a reporter in September who was asking questions about the GWB lane closures saying was the person putting out the road cones and making it an non story.

Every news channel and business, including BBC World and CNN International, are covering the NJ Governor’s press conference.

I do give Chris Christie credit for coming out and talking action about what happened.

Pam what did Gates say that was so controversial? It seems to be pretty much his opinion of the conventional wisdom, of most people, at the time.

Fritz, what military experience do you have that allows you to simply sweep aside Obama making military decisions, involving sending others to their deaths, for purely political purposes? His behavior involving matters of war and peace, even before the Gates book, is so offensive on so many levels.

  17. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

He has no concept of shame or honor.

Chris Christie claims he did not know this was an intentional political move by his staff.
Similar to how President Obama says he did not know or have any involvement in the various scandals.

Let’s keep the comparisons going. Chris Christie has now fired more people over Bridge-gate (2) than Obama has over Benghazi/IRS/NSA/Healthcare.gov/Obamacare/FastnFurious/Rosengate/APgate combined.

  19. Lawrence O’Donnell: Dead Bridgegate Woman Will Be ‘Chris Christie’s Willie Horton’
Oh how liberals hope. So desperate to wave a bloody flag. So relishing the old lady’s tragedy as their opportunity. Not like she was in Christy’s car driven off the bridge and he swam away without telling anyone.

The left lives for this crap. Not that they actually give a rat’s ass about the woman or her family. It’s all theater with them.

  21. “Excuse me Governor Christie, may I go to the bathroom or sneeze?

Mary Buono says that Christie runs the state like a paramilitary organization and that you must ask permission to pee or sneeze. She also says that “he did not take responsibility for anything, but I didn’t watch the press conference so I don’t know what he really said”.

  22. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

She also says that “he did not take responsibility for anything, but I didn’t watch the press conference so I don’t know what he really said”.

Thanks for clearing that up, Mary.🙄

  23. struck me as hard to have done a better jabo than what he did. That is unless he was lying, and gets caught.

  24. Christie’s press conference was an excellent tutorial on crisis management. If that’s all there is then he walks and his reputation could actually be enhanced.

If, on the other hand, there’s even a single email or tweet that proves the governor knew anything about this stunt before yesterday morning he’s toast.

The interesting thing is that Steve Kornacki; who has become MSNBC point pundit on this story; pointed out that in 2010 Christie called his education commissioner a liar in a presser and a few days later he was proved to have been wrong when emails backing up what the commissioner said emerged. Just sayin’.

Still waiting for that Gates quote Pam.

  25. savefarris Says:

    @davidGregory

.@peterbakernyt what fascinates me abt Gates memoir & your book is how little we know abt what’s happening inside any admin

Well golly gee willikers David: if only there was someone who’s occupational duty it was to discover and report what was happening in said administration. Too bad that job only exists in the realm of unicorns, dragons, and Republican administrations…

  26. icemannyr Says:

Excluding Bengazi, I’m sure the right is happy that Obama has all his scandals so it’s not that all surprising the left is doing the same with a conservative governor in the GWB scandal.

This was the stop story on all the news channels at 3pm.
Shep did a full segment on the story talking to Eric Shawn and Andrew Napolitano.

Even Hannity is covering it tonight, “Is Gov. Chris Christie on the same shameful path as Hillary Clinton?”.

  27. As CNN Eyes Primetime Shake-Up, Who’s In And Who’s Out?
    http://variety.com/2014/tv/news/as-cnn-eyes-primetime-shake-up-whos-in-and-whos-out-1201040500/?dtoc

Can you imagine working prime time at CNN and seeing all this go on in the open? Can you say “demoralizing”?

  28. Bernard Whitman, former Clinton pollster, has said both yesterday and today on FOX that if Tony Soprano were governor of NJ, he would act like Gov. Christie does. Hmm…comparing Christie with T. Soprano? And no one on FOX called him out on it.

  29. Well, except for brutally killing people, Tony was charming.

  30. savefarris Says:

Even Hannity is covering it tonight, “Is Gov. Chris Christie on the same shameful path as Hillary Clinton?”.

Probably for different reasons than everyone else. The MSM is going whole hog (pardon the pun) because they want to take down whoever is the leading Republican candidate. Hannity is gorging on the buffet (again, sorry) because conservatives don’t want another non-conservative on the ballot for a 3rd consecutive go-round.

The Left and Right agreeing: whoo-hoo!!!

  31. icemannyr Says:

That’s ok FNC is still the leader in the most coverage of Obamacare so it kinda evens out.

  32. savefarris Says:

You guys have turned me around on the whole Christie thing: using your office to punish civilians in an attempt to get back at your enemies is wrong and shouldn’t be tolerated in the White House.

  36. the daughter of the 91 year old lady who died of heart diseaseat the hospital after the NJ bridge lane closing told the NYT her death had nothing to do with the closing, “It just was her time”, the daughter said.

Hysterical liberals can take down the bloody flag they were so obnoxiously waving.

  37. “Just for you fritzy!”

^^Interesting read Pam but there’s still no big story here. Woodward describes a Gates/Hillary/Biden/Obama relationship much like the Rumsfeld/’W’/Rice/ Cheney relationship. The Pentagon, White House, CIA and State Dept. and naturally adversarial so some backbiting from former cabinet members is pretty normal. There are always going to be disagreements but most of what Gates says is pretty complimentary of the POTUS.

  38. Hysterical liberals can take down the bloody flag they were so obnoxiously waving.

    Always offensive, all the time.

EMS services were delayed, and it put the public in danger. This is not in dispute.

  39. And everyone made a big effing deal about the relationships in the Bush administration between the people you mention. My goodness the grief Rumsfeld got from people along with Bush – you know Bush as a Nazi, Bush as a monkey, Bush as star in a movie about his assassination.

So, I never heard you say people , people, people there is nothing to see here. Just some differences of opinion among cabinet members.

You are not consistent with your blather. Does that surprise me? Not in the least.

  40. icemannyr Says:

Has the conservative News busters been complaining about FNC doing to much coverage of Obamacare? I’d guess no.

Now that we have a scandal for a Governor who could be a possible Republican candidate for President they complain the media is doing to much coverage.

If they were a true non partisan organization who wanted no media bias from all news channels I’d care about them.

  41. savefarris Says:

“Now that we have a scandal for a Governor who could be a possible Republican candidate for President they complain the media is doing to much coverage.”

So we should treat a, in your own words, “possible Republican candidate for President” even tougher than the ACTUAL president…

  42. Is Juliette Huddy still with FOX?

  43. ^ She co-hosts a Fox Affiliate morning show in New York. She’s still technically available for fill-ins on FNC, but it rarely happens anymore. The women who used to rotate through F&F First with Heather and Ainsley seem to get those sub shifts now.

  44. If you believe Chris Christie had no knowledge or involvement in the GWB lane closures then Casey Anthony was innocent.

  45. I remember when people were criticizing Rachel Maddow for covering this GWB story and bought the whole traffic study excuse. It turned out to be exactly what Rachel said it was.

  46. Always said she was smart.

  47. icemannyr Says:

Heather Nauert was moved from FNC to FOX5 NYC doing the 4:30am-7am shift. She was one of the rotating anchors of F&F First so FOX5 had to use a sub when she was at FNC.
Eventually Heather went back to FNC full time and Huddy became the co-anchor of the FOX5 4:30-7am shift.

Hannity is whining this GWB scandal was a coordinated distraction from the Robert Gates book.
Right Sean they planned to release the e-mails text at the same time Gates had his publisher release excerpts of his book.

  48. who released the emails and where did they get them?

  49. icemannyr Says:

With all the news going on today does CNN really believe anyone is tuned into their 2 hour documentary?

  50. “Hannity is whining this GWB scandal was a coordinated distraction from the Robert Gates book.”

^^Hannity should be happy the GWB scandal is a distraction from the Gabriel Sherman bio of Roger Ailes.🙂

  51. The more I read and see about the GWB scandal the more I think it will kill Christie’s POTUS hopes even if he skates for now. Even if there are no more incriminating emails or his fired staffers and appointees don’t take a plea deal; there’s blood in the water. For everyone who loves his tough guy act there are five victims of his bullying including most of the NJ media.

But I think the real damage will come in the 2016 primaries when oppo research by Rand Paul and other Repub candidates will be released at the appropriate time to kill the Christie campaign.

  52. Oh, now we’re going to do The Gates Book Conspiracy. Ya know, the book that’s been covered on all networks for days, and the one FNC is still pounding as if it tells us anything about POTUS and Afghanistan which wasn’t already patently obvious. Obama went ahead with military advice he wasn’t sure was going to work. No kidding..I doubt even the folks giving the advice were sure. War is hard. Especially. In. AFGHANISTAN.

  53. CNN reports Al Qaeda now controls more territory in the MIDEAST than ever.
    http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/07/opinion/bergen-al-qaeda-terrority-gains/

    On the plus side:

    1) NYT reports there are none in Benghazi except the one we let out of Guantanamo who is now wanted for the slaying of our
ambassador — so he must be quite the loaner,

    2) Obama has them “on the run” so obviously they can’t cause much trouble… If you don’t count destroying Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Lybia, and Yemen as trouble.

  54. Fun fact: not only did Elvis not die, he never left the building.

  55. “But I think the real damage will come in the 2016 primaries when oppo research by Rand Paul and other Repub candidates will be released at the appropriate time to kill the Christie campaign.”

what makes you think they have something that John Corzine didn’t?

  56. “She co-hosts a Fox Affiliate morning show in New York.”

    Thanks, Joe.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/10/opinion/after-chris-christies-performance.html?nl=todaysheadlines&emc=edit_th_20140110
NYT blames Christie for the “set a political tone thing” demanding an admission of guilt, but the Obama administration with a vendetta extending down to the IRS acting against their enemies and a Chief of Staff comparing Republicans to the JONESTOWN cult? No tone problem to admit there. Not from a POTUS who has been demeaning of his opponents since January 2009.

The first to decry the morality of others are always the phoniest.

“Maddow now no different than Alex Jones”

Nothing for me tops Alex Jones’ 9/11 truther nonsense and his loony rant on CNN.

  67. “Who released the emails and where did they get them?”

The New Jersey State Assembly Committee are investigating the George Washington Bridge lane closures.
They are the group that requested and is releasing the documents.

  68. Maddow now no different than Alex Jones

The “liberal Alex Jones” came up with a complex, more plausible motive for Christie’s office to jack up a bridge. I guess some people are happier with “lost their minds over nothing”…

  69. I finally got to see Gabe Sherman in the flesh on CBS THIS MORNING. I swear he’s the same pushy kid that came to my door trying to sell me a vacuum cleaner. Would not leave until he threw dirt on the carpet and tried to clean it up. I wound up having to by a can of spray foam cleaner.

  70. The subtitle of Sherman’s book, “The man who divided America” shows pretty much where the author is coming from. America was already divided, the liberal MSM just kept that hidden. Ailes gave the flyover part a voice. Bless him.

  71. Maddow may not be Alex Jones but she is a propagandist/conspiracy theorist. I don’t know what happened to her over the last 5 years.

  72. Maddow may not be Alex Jones but she is a propagandist/conspiracy theorist. I don’t know what happened to her over the last 5 years.

Yeah, everyone spent weeks decrying Maddow and saying that her theory about Chris Christie’s administration having those lanes shut down wasn’t plausible at all. They bought the “traffic study” BS. She was right all along. And she’s actually been right about a lot of things all along.

As for propagandist – Maddow, unlike Lawrence, Chris Hayes and Sharpton, is actually capable of criticizing Obama on a great many issues.

  73. Rachel Maddow (Ali Goldstein/Associated Press)

Last fall, PolitiFact, which fact-checked MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, launched PunditFact, which is fact-checking MSNBC host Rachel Maddow.

In a massive check, PunditFact, a project of the Tampa Bay Times and the Poynter Institute, examined the controversial remarks that Maddow made on her Jan. 2 program — decrying a Florida law that required welfare applicants to submit to drug testing; a federal judge had struck down the statute three days earlier. In tracing the law’s history, Maddow repeatedly hammered a “Koch brothers-affiliated group” for promoting and defending the law, referring to the political entities backed by industrialists Charles and David Koch. That group was the Naples, Fla.-based Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA).

Following the Maddow monologue about Florida and the FGA, the Kochs sent a request for correction to MSNBC, attempting to dictate just how she should clear the air. There is no link between the Kochs and the FGA, insist the Kochs.
Maddow bristled at receiving a script from the Kochs, telling her audience, “I do not play requests.” She stood by her characterization.

The host’s intransigence on the issue doesn’t look terribly smart in light of PunditFact’s findings, which are summarized as follows: “Maddow said the Foundation for Government Accountability, which supported a Florida law requiring drug testing of welfare recipients, is a ‘Koch brothers affiliated group.’ The evidence to prove that particular claim is thin. We rate the claim Mostly False.”

At first, some bloggers raised issues about Maddow’s Koch-Florida commentary. Now PunditFact. In other words, not enough to get Maddow to address the matter again on-air.

  74. Evidence linking the Koch brothers to anything is thin because they get to remain anonymous in all their dealings thanks to Citizens United. We all know the real deal though.

  75. Maddow didn’t have evidence to support the bridge conspiracy theory. She just says stuff. That she happened to be partially correct doesn’t change the fact that she was, at the time, doing nothing more than advancing a conspiracy theory. You know, like the “fact” that the Koch Brothers were behind welfare drug testing in Florida. Another figment of Maddow’s imagination. She’s become nothing more than a dishonest hack. Her entire schtick revolves around finding some Republican elected dog catcher in Nowhereville, USA who said something stupid and applying that to every Republican on the face of the Earth. She’s silly. But, she plays to an angry, irrational audience so yay for her.

  76. So, it’s the fault of Citizens United that Maddow lied? Neat. She lied. She was proved to have lied. And, she doesn’t care. Because her fans will scream “Citizens United!”.

  77. Glad the old Andy is back. The new one seemed a bit possessed.

  78. Been watching NASCAR Preseason Thunder on FOX Sports 1. Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin and a black no. 3 car on the track at Daytona again. #memories

  79. There has to be evidence out there that, at some point, Maddow was a “truther”.

  80. Yep, that’s Andy!

“Evidence linking the Koch brothers to anything is thin because they get to remain anonymous in all their dealings thanks to Citizens United.”

Except … We know exactly who the Koch’s donated to and it wasn’t the FGA as Maddow originally claimed. Citizens United is nothing but a boogeyman distraction.

  83. The perfect qualifications for elected office for a leftist.

Because Conservative politicians never lie. #sarcasm

They lie, as well. But Obama and his ilk have set the gold standard in lying.

  85. As for Maddow’s bridge theory, it’s a more plausible theory that doesn’t make Governor Christie look like a vindictive bully.

  86. They lie, as well. But Obama and his ilk have set the gold standard in lying.

The gold standard is 4,486 American soldiers dying to disarm someone who wasn’t a threat to us, at all. Weapons of Mass Destruction, uranium from Niger, links to al-Qaida.

When Obama’s lies are directly responsible for the death of 4,486 American lives, you can come back to me about gold standards.

  87. As for Obama, he could tell me my iPhone is an iPhone and I’d start trying to download Android apps.

  88. Just released documents being studied by CNN reveal traffic study did occur during the NJ bridge closure:

The yellowcake WAS found and sent to Canada for reprocessing. As for weapons of mass destruction, chemical weapons are WMD’s. What do you think that Saddam used on the Kurds? Pixie dust?

  91. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Bush might have been mistaken but he did not lie. Obama lies.

Larry, the Left just repeats the same damn talking points over and over.

Saddam had to be part of the grand conspiracy, as the UN authorized the use of force due to Saddam having his military fire upon US and UK aircraft enforcing the no-fly zone that Iraq agreed to as part of the ’91 cease fire.

  94. If you want to make excuses for Bush, I’ll start making excuses for Obama.

Obama’s inaction (RE:Benghazi) didn’t kill nearly 2,000 Americans here, at home, in the states, and his lies didn’t kill nearly 5,000 American soldiers. But y’all go ahead and continue to make excuses for Bush.

  96. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

If you want to make excuses for Bush, I’ll start making excuses for Obama.

Obama’s inaction (RE:Benghazi) didn’t kill nearly 2,000 Americans here, at home, in the states, and his lies didn’t kill nearly 5,000 American soldiers. But y’all go ahead and continue to make excuses for Bush.

I wasn’t making excuses, I was pointing out simple, easily verifiable facts. But feel free to live in your little dream world, but don’t be surprised when you are called on it. Personally, I don’t think you are worth the bother. If you refuse to check things out for yourself, that speaks volumes about your opinions and judgement.

  97. Well, thanks to Chris Christie, MSNBC turned up a huge ratings win over FNC last night. Matthews, Maddow and O’Donnell all won their respective timeslots and Hayes turned in the best numbers I’ve ever seen his show record.

  98. Have you seen the FNC clips from today? Chris Christie is now a Great Leader for suddenly noticing his closest advisors were jamming up towns for him. Apparently blowing it off for 4 months, then saying he’s super sad and hurt, has sealed his fate as the next President of the United States. Even Fox viewers don’t wanna sit through that crap.

  99. Hey, guess what date falls during the first week of school in Fort Lee? Sep. 11. They blocked emergency services, and left civilians stranded on a bridge..in New Jersey. On the anniversary of 9/11.

  100. R.I.P. Larry Speaks
    Press Secretary to President Reagan.

Not the kind we have today.

  101. ZUCKER:
“In the cable news arena, you have two partisan networks looking out for their viewers,” said Zucker. “I think CNN needs to look out for the rest of us. … CNN is not and never will abandon our first and fundamental brand equity, which is news and breaking news — covering today’s news and putting it in context. It’s the most important thing we do. We want to remain essential in news.”

  102. Andy, MSNBC had wins in the PRIMETIME DEMO:
    http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/msnbc-tops-fox-news-in-primetime-demo_b209977

Liberals desperate for some “good news” swarmed the hive for a rare bit of honey these days.

  103. Now, we’re supposed to act like MSNBC winning the 25-54 demo isn’t a big deal and really means nothing and only look at numbers that Fox won? Um, Larry, the 25-54 demo is more important than total viewers or any other demo. That’s elementary cable news 101 right there.

  104. no, I agree Andy, its a big deal.

  105. Funny all the news reporters today combing through the latest NJ Bridge released documents you would think they were the Dead Sea Scrolls. We have not seen that concentration of investigative energy since the ObamaCare bill was passed… >snicker<

  106. icemannyr Says:

“Chris Christie is now a Great Leader for suddenly noticing his closest advisors were jamming up towns for him.”

Yeah it was funny watching Jay Sekulow fawning all over Christie.

  107. I don’t understand it, Ice. If some random dude blocked a very busy bridge; backing up traffic into half the town and impeding EMS; wouldn’t that be a terrorist act? There must be someone at FNC who can step up and say, “Wait. They shut down a town because they felt like it. Aren’t we the ‘hate government power’ guys?”

  108. Christie can bluff and bluster his way through this scandal for a few days or weeks but the writing for his career is on the wall. I don’t see him recovering from the media firestorm, political investigations and legal challenges.

He has lots of enemies, in both parties, and after four plus years of bullying political opponents, the press and anyone else who got in his way they will be only too happy to tell stories and leak documents to anyone asking. And everyone is now asking.

  109. savefarris Says:

Funny all the news reporters today combing through the latest NJ Bridge released documents you would think they were the Dead Sea Scrolls.

I haven’t seen reporters show this much investigative zeal since the Sarah Palin e-mail dump.

  110. icemannyr Says:

Joe it’s typical partisan politics. Conservatives are going to spin the positive, Chris Christie did something right away unlike Obama who has not fired anyone from his scandals.

There can’t be a discussion about Chris Christie without having to bring up Clinton and Obama.

  111. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Chris Christie was an abrasive, bullying, a**hole in the past, is one now, and will be one in the future. The only real question is – Was he born one? Or did he work at it all of his life?

  112. Complaining about the Christie coverage by complaining about the coverage of another story, is a pretty strange defense. Hey, I think George Bush got a free pass by the media into Iraq. Does this mean I’m supposed to get mad every time they get it right now? Uh, no. You don’t fix a mistake by repeating it.

This bridge fiasco has nothing to do with Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton or Sarah Palin or George Bush or Benghazi or the IRS or Whitewater or Watergate! The Fox News game of covering the story by complaining about the coverage of other stories is ludicrous.

  113. Exactly, FNC should report the news and stop doing segments in their newscasts complaining about how the media covers stories, as if FNC is not a part of the media and should decide how and how much coverage other networks do of stories.

More good old liberal bashing on Megyn’s show.
They started with the usual Obama bashing from Marc Thiessen and no one form the liberal side to debate him.

“How will the White House justify the lackluster jobs report? Plus Rep. Cory Gardner questions Colorado’s insurance numbers. And why Americans are outraged over Obama’s Justice Dept. nominee”

    That’s a real straight news show.😛

  114. Now Megyn has a veteran on to bash Obama for the current problems in Iraq. Never mind Bush sent us in there on the false premise that there were WMDs. Everything is Obama’s fault.

  115. We left Iraq on Bush’s timetable. Show me someone who thinks staying longer was a better idea, and I’ll show you a blithering idiot.

  116. savefarris Says:

Olbermann just made a Chris Hayes joke.

  117. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Never mind Bush sent us in there on the false premise that there were WMDs.

There were no “false premises.” There were WMD’s. Saddam used chemical weapons against the Iranians and Kurds. According to defectors, the weapons and technology were shipped to Syria when we invaded. And, yes, there was uranium. It was shipped to Canada after the invasion for processing into fuel.

  118. savefarris Says:

Now Megyn has a veteran on to bash Obama for the current problems in Iraq.

    Who is the President?

  119. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Show me someone who thinks staying longer was a better idea, and I’ll show you a blithering idiot.

Thank you, General, for you concise expertise. Now, remember, be creative in your insulting comeback.

  120. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Now Megyn has a veteran on to bash Obama for the current problems in Iraq.

    Who is the President?

My best guess is Valerie Jarrett.

  121. I’m going to continue to voice my opinion on military involvements despite my lack of military service. I’ve never run for President or driven a race car, either. Now do you have an actual opinion to express, or are we just going to continue calling people “General” like we’re 12?

  122. “Megyn” “straight news”

    DRINK

  123. savefarris Says:

We left Iraq on Bush’s timetable.

This guy doesn’t think so. Bush isn’t mentioned once: it’s I, me, my.

  124. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

I’m going to continue to voice my opinion on military involvements despite my lack of military service. I’ve never run for President or driven a race car, either. Now do you have an actual opinion to express, or are we just going to continue calling people “General” like we’re 12?

Joe, the “blithering idiot” comment is what set this aside as not being serious, simply another snide “expert” opinion.

Bush had a timetable, but with a residual force left in place to aid Iraq in times of trouble. Obama screwed up the status of forces agreement, leaving none, thus opening up Iraq to Al Qaeda. He now appears to be going to do the same in Afghanistan. Well, he did say that when things got rough who he’d side with…and it wasn’t us.

  125. savefarris Says:

Show me someone who thinks staying longer was a better idea

Nouri Al-Maliki, for starters. He argued for leaving a residual force which might have prevented the backslide into chaos we’re seeing now.

But no: Obama said everyone out now. He owns ALL of setbacks in Iraq we’ve had since 2009. All of them. He is the President, as he so constantly reminds us…

  126. Recapping the day:

    Jobs suck
Liberal loons upset Christ alive, kicking, and getting applause.
Maddow, smart though she is, called out as a liar.
Ailes book a dud yesterday, still a dud.
Best not to give the military live ammo around their betrayer.
Zucker takes a swing and hits air.
    Jobs suck.

  127. savefarris Says:

The Maddow/Koch story just won’t go away and that’s bad news … for Maddow.

    http://watchdog.org/122678/maddow-embarrasses-koch-bros-accusation/

    Please Rachel: don’t give up!!!

  128. All those praising Chris Christie seem to have forgotten the press conference where Chris Christie was mocking reporters for even asking questions about the GWB access lane closures.

  129. Larry you want a good drinking game?

Take a drink every time Hannity is loudly clicking, banging or flipping his pen. You’ll be passed out before the show is over.😛
He should visit a therapist for his OCD.

  130. I’m sorry that things suck in Iraq, but the American people were never asked to die for Iraqis, and I don’t they we should be there dying for them today. We were presented with the threat of a mushroom cloud over New York City, and we supported going in there to shut it down. One way or another that threat disappeared, and we came home. I’m good with this.

  131. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

He doesn’t need to pay a therapist. A nun can accomplish it in one session, either by smacking him on the knuckles with a ruler, or smacking his hand with one of those red hard-bound school bibles.

  132. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Give Iran time. A crude device on an innocent looking ship entering the harbor will be all that it will take.

  133. Iran wouldn’t be a problem if we hadn’t eliminated its natural enemy from its border. Ill-conceived invasions have consequences..

  134. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

Iran wouldn’t be a problem if we hadn’t eliminated its natural enemy from its border. Ill-conceived invasions have consequences..

Iran has been a problem since the ’79 Revolution. Remember the hostage crisis? You might want to brush up a bit on your history.

  135. I know the history, General. Iran wasn’t nuking anybody as long as Iraq was a threat a few miles away. We fixed that all up for them.

  136. Now do your last word thing..I gotta stay away from this joint. Tootles.

  137. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

I know the history, General. Iran wasn’t nuking anybody as long as Iraq was a threat a few miles away. We fixed that all up for them.

You have no concept of the history. And the only reason that they weren’t “nuking anybody” long ago is that they didn’t have the ability.

Now go and play with your toy cars.

  138. savefarris Says:

Iran wasn’t nuking anybody as long as Iraq was a threat a few miles away. We fixed that all up for them.

Time to play America’s fastest growing quiz sensation: “How completely and utterly wrong is joe?”

Guess which ultra-hawk warmongering neocon served up this quote:

“”The whole world now knows that Iran not only sought to hide its uranium enrichment program from the world for more than two decades, but also engaged in covert research and development related to activities that can have only one application: building a nuclear warhead”

Give up? It’s America’s favorite beard, Jay Carney!

  139. Holy smokes – I have not watched GMA for a very long time and it was on this morning when I woke up They did their prepackaged piece on the death of Ariel Sharon. What a hit piece on the man. Instead of reciting facts about his life it was opinion throughout the segment. Guess they didn’t like his political leanings especially in the early days of his life.

  140. thank God for FOX, Pam, we went for decades with little counterpoint to these biases.

  141. Things are looking up for gun owners in Illinois. On Monday, as some 4,500 concealed carry applications flooded the state’s online portal on its first full day of operation, Obama-appointed U.S. District Judge Edmond E. Chang of the Northern District of Illinois issued a significant opinion that invalidated Chicago’s ban on firearm sales and transfers within the city. The suit was brought by the Illinois Association of Firearms Retailers and three individuals, with the backing of NRA.

  142. Elect a liberal and you get betrayal of the troops:
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/us-veterans-despondent-over-al-qaedas-resurgence-in-iraq/2014/01/10/ad692918-7a2a-11e3-af7f-13bf0e9965f6_story.html?wpisrc=nl_headlines

They cut and run after an initial bluster. When Harry Truman checked out of the White House, he took a warrior’s determination with him. Harry may have run a clothing store, but he was from Missouri. Having worked for them, I can testify they are the most determined (stubborn) people on the planet.

  143. Plenty of people who aren’t idiots wanted to leave small residual forces in Iraq to prevent what’s happening now. Like it or not, we went there. It’s disgraceful that Fallujah has fallen under Al queda control.

  144. New York Teen Arrested In Connection With Videotaped “Knockout Game” Attack On Elderly Woman.

Finally making some progress holding these thugs accountable.
    http://www.thesmokinggun.com/buster/teen-records-assault-on-old-woman-675432

  145. Heading to a gun show today so I can take advantage of the “gun show loophole”…aka passing a background check if I decide to purchase a gun as 99% of sellers at gun shows are FFL dealers.

  146. “We were struck by something Maddow omitted from her report about the new cache of documents…”
    http://dailyhowler.blogspot.com/2014/01/question-could-mess-in-fort-lee-new.html

“Her account was highly interpretive and highly novelized; her journalistic detachment level was extremely low.”

    That’s our Rachel!

  148. icemannyr Says:

Instead of a long comment I’ll just ask this,
what secrets does Pirro know about people at FNC to keep doing a weekly show on FNC?

  149. well, on the plus side, she makes everyone else look good.

  150. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

well, on the plus side, she makes everyone else look good.

    Except Geraldo, of course.

  151. icemannyr Says:

    Beckel on Red Eye.😛

  152. RELIABLE SOURCES preparing table for gossipy dish:

‘Sherman’s book, “The Loudest Voice In The Room,” has been highly anticipated since the day he proposed it. Ailes, after all, has been influencing politics and television for decades, making him a hero to the American right, an enemy to the left and a clearly worthwhile subject for a biography. Next Tuesday the 560-page book is finally being published — and on Sunday I’ll have Sherman’s first extended interview.

The “Reliable Sources” producing team has allotted extra time for the interview at the top of the show.’

  153. WOW — contrast the TV interviews with Robert Gates on CBS SUNDAY MORNING with that of Gabriel Sherman on RELIABLE SOURCES. Gates looked high class, Sherman like a kiddie porn salesman.

  154. I like the way Howard Kurtz is bringing people on FOX who normally would not appear on FOX. Today, for instance, Dana Milbank and Marisa Guthrie.

  155. He has had Milbank on multiple times. A liberal, but one Olbermann booted because he refused to just be a nodding head.

  156. Kiddie porn salesman

Always offensive, all the time. Never civilized.

  157. icemannyr Says:

The Roger Ailes book is going to tell us what we already know.
FNC decided to become a much more conservative and anti liberal channel.

  158. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    Kiddie porn salesman

Always offensive, all the time. Never civilized.

It was a typo. He meant kitty porn. Only Fritz should take umbrage.
