The Year-Long Series Spotlights Dynamic Women Candidates Running for Public Office

NEW YORK, NY – January 13, 2014 – has launched a new initiative, “Women of 2014,” providing the primary destination for the most robust coverage of women candidates and women’s issues. Updated daily, the series features innovative reporting on impactful women candidates from all political parties who seek Senate and House seats, governorships, and the presidency, as well as the rising stars behind the scenes.

There are currently 99 women serving in Congress, the most in U.S. history. In 2014 that number could surge, as some of the most consequential Senate races feature key female candidates from both political parties. “Women of 2014” will chronicle this important moment in history by fully integrating MSNBC’s pool of on air and digital talent. This new section will include broadcast interviews, in depth profiles, photo slideshows, interactive graphics, digital chats with the community, and much more.

“Women of 2014” presents the audience with a central place for unparalleled access to the people, ideas, and conversations shaping the key issues of 2014. Melissa Harris-Perry kicked off the series on her Sunday (noon-2p ET) show with reporters Irin Carmon, Suzy Khimm, and Meredith Clark. The video can be seen at the new “Women of 2014” page: The official Twitter hashtag is #women2014.

  2. All you have to do is look at the first page of this new website and know which way it will lean. More headlines about Democrat women and pro-abortion articles than anything else.

I wonder if the FEC would consider this an in-kind donation.

    Wahoo! Love it!

Rachel Maddow show beats out Fox News for past week.

According to TVNewser, “The Rachel Maddow Show” averaged 325,000 A25-54 viewers for the week, topping Fox News’ “The Kelly File,” which drew 305,000, and “Piers Morgan Tonight,” which had 159,000. It was MSNBC’s best 9pmET performance since the week of the Boston Marathon bombing (4/15/13). MSNBC’s coverage of the Chris Christie bridge scandal propelled MSNBC to#1 in the primetime demo on both Thursday and Friday of last week. Maddow won the 9pmET timeslot among younger viewers both nights.”

  5. The exception that proves the rule. They were burning a Republican at the stake. Always a crowd please for their kind.
