What’s Hot/What’s Not: Submissions

Post your nominations for this week’s What’s Hot/What’s Not. I’ll post the finalists on Sunday…

  1. HOT: Wendy Davis. Her padded life story brings friends and foes in the media to attention. Bieber — hey, it is what it is. CNN continues its race from news as it’s ratings news is bad.

NOT: Gabe Sherman’s book? Faded fast. Anything
that doesn’t kill Roger Ailes makes him stronger.

  2. NOT: Mike Huckabee. SHAZAM, Sgt,, shut up.

  3. NOT: Minutes in to MSNBC coverage of the shooting, Alex Witt brings up gun control. MSNBC ignores the fact that Maryland has extremely restrictive gun laws.

  4. Not: F&F Weekend anchors whining about the left wing media and democrats as they defend Mike Huckabee.

Not: Dana Perino saying no one watches MSNBC.

Chris Matthews beat Greta in the 25-54 demo on Wednesday and Thursday.

  5. When Chrissy starts beating Greta on a regular basis that will be the time to start crowing about what a great program he has. 2X in one week is nothing to bang the drum about.

  6. How many times is Harris going to say she is following the Howard County Police PIO on Twitter?

  7. “When Chrissy starts beating Greta on a regular basis that will be the time to start crowing about what a great program he has. 2X in one week is nothing to bang the drum about.”

^^ I agree Pam. MSNBC is getting high ratings because of their coverage of the ‘Bridgegate’ scandal. When it dies down their numbers will drop again.

There numbers against CNN however are more interesting. The Christie scandal is a big news story that CNN should be all over but their ratings continue to tank everywhere. The increased MSNBC ratings may show a move away from CNN to MSNBC for viewers looking for coverage of the Christie story.

  8. What the Bridgate story needs to have legs:
    1) some jucy inditements.
    2) the smoking email from the Gov., “Hey guys, now that we’ve won, it’s payback time. See what you can come up with. Just don’t use your official email accounts”.
    3) something with sex.

  9. CNN has become a glorified TMZ.

  10. icemannyr Says:

Not: CNN’s and FNC’s continued speculation segments on the MD Mall shooting.

  11. icemannyr Says:

Not: CNN Please stop this awful speculation on the mall shooting!!!!!!!

  12. NOT: Andrea Mitchell cutting off Jane Harmon as they were talking about the NSA so MSNBC could have a live update about Justin Bieber!

Dear Lord, I am guessing Andrea Mitchell has a shout rest with her producers about this when she was off the air. Or, maybe I am just hoping she did?

  13. Rest BS fest

Ice, you are absolutely right. This behavior by every and all news operations galls me to no end. Local TV seems to be the worst. If they don’t have the facts, they guess.

  15. The coverage all day was awful. MSNBC with the gun control crap, FNC with the talk about how someone else with a gun would have “prevented” this tragedy, CNN with their usual craptacular reporting. They have no idea.

Newsflash: Columbia Mall is HUGE. Columbia and Arundel Mills are the two largest malls and everyone in Maryland goes there.

Oh, I’m sure she did. I highly doubt Andrea Mitchell wanted to interrupt a conversation about an important subject to cover Bieber. That order probably came directly from NBC.

Andy, I remember when the big mall in the area was Mondawmin in Baltimore. Harundale Mall in Glen Burnie opened a year or so later.

  18. savefarris Says:

HOT: The Super Bowl is about to be played in the largest media market in the world. And arguably the most famous player in the game is playing.

NOT: also this week, the SOTU. no one cares.

  19. The NFL will always draw higher ratings than the State of the Union. It doesn’t matter who’s President.

  20. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

I can count the number of State of the Union addresses that I have watched in the last 40 years on one hand. And, I am better off for it.

  21. Grandpa Dave Says:

HOT: Garrahan’s take on CNN layoffs.
HOT: ICN review of “Loudest Voice In The Room”.
    HOT: Varney re-ups at FBN.
HOT: Krakower “not renewed” at CNBC.

NOT: TWC just won’t admit defeat by DirecTV.

  22. Not: It’s colder in NY then CA was for their outdoor NHL game and we have 1 hour delay for NJD vs NYR from Yankee Stadium.😛
