  1. So…. Juan Williams tells the President he needs to “punch hard”.

    Great analysis from Althouse.

NEW YORK – January 27, 2014 – MSNBC’s new daytime programming schedule will debut on Monday, February 24. The announcement was made today by Phil Griffin, President of MSNBC.

Starting Feb. 24, “News Nation” with Tamron Hall will move to 11 a.m. ET and “Andrea Mitchell Reports” will move to 12 p.m. ET.

“Tamron has established herself as one of the best news anchors in the business. It strengthens us to have her hosting during our morning news block,” said Griffin. “Andrea Mitchell is so critical to msnbc and I’ve always thought her show should be at noon. Andrea brings on the biggest newsmakers of the day and the new time slot will help showcase her work.”

MSNBC is adding two new voices with Ronan Farrow at 1 p.m. and Joy Reid at 2 p.m.

“One of the highlights of this job is finding new talent,” said Griffin. “Ronan and Joy are two of the most thoughtful and impressive journalists out there and I’m excited for what they will bring to the afternoon.”

MSNBC DAYTIME SECHEDULE – as of Feb. 24:

MSNBC announced Ronan Farrow’s show development in October 2013 (http://www.nbcumv.com/mediavillage/networks/msnbc/pressreleases?pr=contents/press-releases/2013/10/16/ronanfarrowjoin1454075.xml). Prior to joining MSNBC, Farrow was a foreign policy official in the first Obama administration. He founded the State Department’s Office of Global Youth Issues and reported to the Secretary of State as the United States’ first Special Adviser for Global Youth during the Arab Spring revolutions. He also served for two years as a US diplomat focused on the conflict in Afghanistan and Pakistan. A lawyer and a Rhodes Scholar, Farrow has written about human rights and foreign policy outlets including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Los Angeles Times.

Joy Reid has been the managing editor of TheGrio.com and MSNBC contributor since July 2011. She’s also been a frequent substitute host on MSNBC during all dayparts. Reid is a political columnist for “The Miami Herald” and editor of the politics blog The Reid Report. Reid has worked in television and radio news since 1998 and her columns have appeared in a variety of outlets including Salon.com.

  4. I’m great with the new lineup. Joy Reid and Ronan Farrow are replacing Bashir and Roberts (who is replacing Willie Geist on MJ). In my view this is fine. Roberts has been really good as Willie’s replacement so far. Joy has been the best of the sub hosts lately and Farrow is an unknown as yet but I think is the biggest risk.

The biggest thing I see is the emphasis on world news with Mitchell and Farrow taking over the noon to 2PM slots. I’m not sure how that will play out.

I’m not sure why Andy thinks it’s awful and what he would prefer unless it’s more ‘news’ by whatever criteria he wants to call that.

  5. The wall to wall coverage of the mall shooting yesterday was way over the top as far as I’m concerned. The only thing that seemed to make it different than any other shooting and thus just a local story was the location – a shopping mall. If this had taken place in a home, a gas station, a street or a park it’s just another sad local news story.

The initial coverage was fine, as we didn’t know what was going to happen, but they were still doing the story today even though there was no real new news to put out. These stories seem to take on a life of there own once the mass shooting box has been checked in newsrooms.

MSNBC: Your home for the War on Women

  7. I would have put Mitchell to follow Todd at 10:00am, Jansing at Noon, and sent Sharpton packing with his replacement being Farrow.

  8. Just a fact that mainstream media still protecting the liberal agenda. FOX’s place to provide some overall balance is as clearly needed as ever:

Great post, Pam. “Punch hard.” Isn’t that another word for good ol’ Chicago-style politics?

    Did she run over somebody…….intentionally?

  12. Gretchen Carlson says Ted Cruz will be on her show and asking for The President to apologize for something during the SOTU.

Yeah Obama is going to apologize as soon as you apologize for shutting down the government over a failed attempt to defund Obamacare.

  13. MSNBC Carefully, Shamelessly Edits Out All Woman-Praising Context Out of Huckabee’s ‘Uncle Sugar’ Remarks

The MSNBC clip is in bold type:

HUCKABEE: Women I know are outraged that the Democrats think that women are nothing more than helpless and hopeless creatures whose only goal in life is to have the government provide for them birth control medication. Women I know are smart, educated, intelligent, capable of doing anything that anyone else can do. Our party stands for the recognition of the equality of women and the capacity of women. That’s not a war on them, it’s a war for them.

And if the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it. Let us take that discussion all across America because women are far more than the Democrats have played them to be, and women across America need to stand up and say, enough of that nonsense. And I think it’s time we lead that discussion.

“MSNBC… We Edit, To Help You Decide”

  14. Nixon - niila niihpikiiookwa meentwasiaani Says:

    ^
Another example of NBC/MSNBC doing creative editing. They have about as much credibility as a whore in a confessional.

  15. And FNC keeps editing Hillary Clinton.

The FNC edit: “With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans. Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided that they’d they go kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make?”

The full comment: “With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans. Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided that they’d they go kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make? It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again, Senator.”

  16. “Yeah Obama is going to apologize as soon as you apologize for shutting down the government over a failed attempt to defund Obamacare.”

Should apologize for failure to execute. Both of them.

  17. ice… haven’t you said that your “job” here wasn’t to defend or protect MSNBC? Well, then why would you bother doing the “Oh yeah… well, ignore what MSNBC did, and let’s talk about FOX!”?

Is your point that it’s okay when MSNBC does it, because FOX does it too? Is it that nobody should complain or point out what MSNBC does, because of FOX? Or is it just to try to change the subject?

  18. ‘The FNC edit: “With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans. Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided that they’d they go kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make?”

    A destination without a difference.
(The edit, not her highness’s outburst)

  19. My point is both do it and both are wrong yet MSNBC gets all the attention.
I believe this part “It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again.” is just as important. Especially since no one has been held responsible for what happened.

  20. that was tossed in as she realized she stepped in II… Meant nothing.

No, the “What difference at this point does it make?” is the important part. The harpy knew damned well what happened, as did the horse’s ass in the Oval Office. And, they simply don’t care. The insistence on people defending them is sickening.

The “She was asking for it” defense is a terrible, horrible, evil woman-hating excuse … unless a liberal says it.

A gazillion times worse than what Don Imus said. I wonder if it’ll get one zillion times the coverage.

Apparently, ice, you haven’t been reading your own comments if you think MSNBC gets “all the attention.”

  24. “It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again”.

Hey Hilary: You knew what had happened and knew your testimony was a lie! Your butt boy, Kennedy , wouldn’t approve any more security , you knew it, and people DIED! You may be able to cover your tracks now but someday you will be found out and this country will be better for it.

  25. “It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again”.

Reminds me of the 1973 WH tape recording:
“a million dollars. I know how to get that. and we could get it in cash… umm…BUT THAT WOULD BE WRONG.”

  26. IRAN CONTRA
I never thought that a scandal. Seemed brilliant to me.

EVIL PREMISE : to go around Congress. Not so much today. Hey, Reagan had a pen and he had a phone.

I called out his nasty comments on Twitter and the double standard of it’s ok to bash Davis and not ok to bash Palin.

The response from conservatives was because Wendy Davis lied it’s ok to make nasty comments about her and her child.

This is the left in action. They always trash the victims of their predatory politicians.

That said, I found Monica kind of attractive. Poor taste in men, though…..

Here in Louisiana they’ve already shut everything down in preparation for tomorrow.

I guess with crawfish season coming up, there’s not enough salt to spare for the roads.

  31. MSNBC’s new lineup is sure to confuse their 13 viewers.

  32. Farris, maybe Mayor Nagin’s trial will get postponed. I think that was supposed to start tomorrow.

  33. R.I.P. Pete Seeger
