  1. The Daily Beast opined that Stephen Colbert was a great pick as Letterman successor because he was smart like Letterman while as likable as Leno.

(and pretty much also what you get at the south end of a north bound bull)

  2. savefarris Says:

Hayes last night: Rush Limbaugh is right (about Colbert) … and I couldn’t be happier.

  3. erich500 Says:

Colbert really was brilliant and hilarious on Stewart.

Then he was funny the first two three years of his own show. Less so, however, each year. Air escaping a balloon.

But now he’s just a caricature of a caricature.

He’s going to want to take some of his current audience over to CBS. So he can’t entirely abandon the political stuff. But folks don’t want too much of that, I don’t think, at night.

He might pull it off but I can’t see it.

  4. Bill Clinton urges adding photos to Social Security cards for voter identification.
    Dang good idea!

Sharyl Attkisson: When I’d Begin Getting Under Surface of an Obama Scandal, CBS Would Pull Me Off.

  6. A drug trafficker who worked for Al Sharpton’s nonprofit in the 1980s said that despite the preacher’s denials, he was eager to get a slice of the lucrative drug deal captured on FBI surveillance video:

  7. A site called Truth Revolt should watch for irony when creating a headline to look like a quote. Ms. Attkisson is quoted nowhere in the article or Factor clip saying such a thing.

  8. Al Jazeera America, which launched last August with nearly 850 employees and 12 news bureaus in the United States, has laid off dozens of employees as part of restructuring. The channel is disbanding its sports unit and scaling back its social-media-driven show The Stream from a daily show to a once-a-week program.
