Voting Issue…

B0EFuqWIMAAXE9y

This picture was posted this morning by a CNN staffer on Twitter. Predictably, though maybe not for the people involved in this picture, the reaction was pretty vocal. So let’s have a vote…

Update: That tweet, and all the replies to that tweet, have been deleted. Gee, I wonder why…

Update 2: Mediaite’s Andrew Kirell picks up on this

Mediaite has learned from a source that Griffin took the picture, but then CNN brass immediately asked him to delete it.

That’s “immediately” as in within an hour or so…and not before New Day anchor Chris Cuomo RT’d it…

Bad. Treat every mike and camera as live. These days everything will end up on the Web.

  2. imnotblue Says:

Smiling and laughing when talking about Ebola?

Well, that’s horribly offensive and probably racist.

  3. People getting fired all around you gets on your nerves after a while…

  4. Oh, please. Off-air gallows humor is hardly worth getting upset about. Besides, fewer people than watch the show will actually see it, so..

  5. Off air gallows humor is fine…as long as it stays off air…sending out a picture of it via Twitter, which one of the co-anchors retweeted, is not exactly keeping it off air…

  6. Smiling and laughing when talking about Ebola?

Well, that’s horribly offensive and probably racist.

This is not a comment on the topic. It’s trolling with the intent to piss people off. Get a life.

  7. “Oh, please. Off-air gallows humor is hardly worth getting upset about.”

    Agreed.

“Smiling and laughing when talking about Ebola?
Well, that’s horribly offensive and probably racist.”

    Agreed.

I’m in an agreeing kinda mood.

  8. Wait..the anchor RT’d it? Ewkay, I retract.

  9. This is the network that all day is covering Ebola, ISIS and maybe one other news story per hour.
For them to then mock the situation and have that photo broadcast via social media is dumb.

  10. Yeah, if it was just some staffer who put something out that wasn’t meant for public view, that’s one thing. I would expect an apology from Mr News Anchor.

  11. […] it, “but then CNN brass immediately asked him to delete it.” Over at InsideCableNews, there’s a poll asking if this was harmless fun or in bad […]

    @lone
Thanks for the support, but not everyone agreed… so I feel bad.

    *INB sad*

  13. icemannyr Says:

Lets put it this way. It was an inside joke that should have stayed inside. If that was done for the crew to have a bit of levity after days of covering a serious story that’s ok.

The photo should not have been posted by CNN staff on Twitter.

  14. I might expect the staffer who released it to find himself bumped up the ‘firing’ list. This isn’t a great time to be messing up.

    So … *IB*?

  16. imnotblue Says:

    Ha!

  17. I see no problem with it whatsoever. People can and should laugh about anything.

  18. icemannyr Says:

The families of the Duncan and two nurses might disagree.

  19. Probably a good number of the jokes we all enjoy and share will offend a few people somewhere, if those few people choose to take them personally. That can’t be the standard.

  20. I’m kinda with Al on this. I was serious about stress from all the layoffs going on around them, and reacted to this episode with that in mind. Yeah, it’s worse that Cuomo RTed, so he might want to apologize, but I couldn’t care less about the original tweet.

  21. harry1420 Says:

who cares really! Why not have some fun with it. If it were fox doing it u woulndnt have an issue.. but once again..who cares really!

  22. imnotblue Says:

You’re wrong, harry… when it was FOX, “some people” did have a problem. CNN, somewhat less.

    Funny how that works, no?

  23. Bring it on, Blue. What did Fox do just like this that people had a problem with?

Don’t have a problem mocking the hysteria – as long as you aren’t leading a parade of hysteria.
CNN’s moronic tweets, particularly in the morning, undermine the network’s integrity.

  28. Hey, remember when an FNC host made a joke about Ebola?

Then we had comments like this: “A disgusting comment about disease from Africa is race-baiting.”

    There’s that double standard again.

  29. I remember a Fox host talking about witch doctors, and she wasn’t joking. Try again.

  30. Make fun of it. I make fun of everything. Life’s a joke from the night of conception, so why not poke fun at it. Randy McDaniels, TLC.

  31. Uh… okay. Not sure what that has to do with what I posted, though.
