CNN to Provide Live Coverage of the State of the Union Address and the Republican Response

Relaunched CNN.com to Host Live Expert Analysis and Interactive Features throughout the Evening

Live from Washington, anchors Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper and Jake Tapper will lead the network’s comprehensive coverage of President Barack Obama’s sixth State of the Union Address on Tuesday, Jan. 20, beginning at 7p.m. CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront will kick off the evening’s coverage live from Capitol Hill.

The Republican response, delivered by Sen. Joni Ernst (IA), will follow the President’s address.

Throughout the evening, news and commentary will be provided by Gloria Borger, John King, Michael Smerconish, along with the network’s political contributors. Jim Acosta will provide updates from the White House and Dana Bash will report live from the halls of the U.S. Capitol. Tom Foreman will offer a reality check of the President’s remarks live from the virtual studio. The entire evening’s analysis can also be viewed at CNN.com/go by logging in through a cable or satellite provider.

The freshly redesigned CNN.com and mobile app will concurrently host enterprise analysis and live coverage of the evening, including a social stream on CNNPolitics.com with commentary and interactive gaming. CNN’s social media accounts will engage with viewers using the #CNNSOTU hashtag, and Peter Hamby’s Hambycast will stream live on CNN.com beginning at 8:30 p.m.

CNN will also incorporate Microsoft’s Bing Pulse into its coverage, offering viewers the ability to give real-time feedback on the President’s speech.

CNN International will simulcast both the Presidential address and the Republican response.

On CNN en Español beginning at 8:30 p.m., Juan Carlos López will offer special coverage from Havana, joined by Ione Molinares from Washington. Following the speech, Fernando del Rincón will host a special edition of Conclusiones with the Republican response in Spanish.

In addition, a CNN/ORC International poll will be released during the 11 p.m. hour on the favorability of the President and the GOP.
