Free for All: 02/03/15

What’s on your mind? Mine is on this, which I’ll have to respond to later tonight…

  1. Carol Costello snarking about politicians (Christie & Paul) talking about vaccines when they’re not medical doctors. Except Rand Paul is. Which everyone with the slightest clue about any of these politicians know.

  2. Regarding the link, um, well, it’s a doozy. I’m not sure how one seriously suggests that Lemon leans right. And, I’m not sure how one could honestly compare him to O’Reilly or Megyn Kelly.

I don’t dislike Lemon. But, those comparisons are ridiculous.

  3. “But, those comparisons are ridiculous.”

^^Go back and read the story again LS. He compared Lemon to Geraldo; which is very fair. His only comparison to Billo and MK was that he made the stories he covered all about himself which is certainly fair – especially in the case of Billo.

  4. I read it. Geraldo comparison is somewhat apt. But, ANY comparison to Kelly or BOR is absurd. And the assertion that he leans right is laughable.

  5. Catherine Herridge is a great reporter. Just watched her report on the burning alive of the Jordanian pilot. She seemed to me to be more affected from this video than others she has reported on. Then she followed that report with a report on the testimony from various officials about the Taliban 5 as they are called. One interesting point that she shared is that the Director of National Intelligenece (DNI) was never asked/told about the swap before it happened.

That makes me angry, but not surprised.

  6. “But, ANY comparison to Kelly or BOR is absurd”

^^I don’t see enough of Kelly to say one way or the other but to say Billo doesn’t make everything about him is the absurd comment here.

Those shows are opinion shows, so they kinda have to be “all about them” to a certain degree. Lemon hosts a “straight” (you know what I mean) news show, so it’s not quite fair to compare him to those two on those grounds.

^^That’s a fair point farris. Billo and certainly Kelly would argue they are doing news and not opinion; but I agree they are opinion shows and so somewhat different than Lemon’s straight news program.

The best comparison, that I can think of, when I think of Lemon’s recent antics is Rick Sanchez; who used to go off the rails regularly when he worked at CNN.

  9. Senator Thom Tillis says he’s OK with allowing restaurant owners to opt out of the burdensome regulation that their employees should wash their hands after using the washroom as long as they post signage and advertise that that is their policy.🙂

  10. Carol Costello snarking about politicians (Christie & Paul) talking about vaccines when they’re not medical doctors. Except Rand Paul is.

He’s an eye specialist. Not an internal medicine guy or a pediatrician; two fields with a lot more relevance to vaccines. It would be like me as an SQA Engineer giving my opinion on Mechanical Engineering issues. Yeah I’m an Engineer but in a totally different field.

A better analogy would be Dr. Bill Frist’s laughable diagnosis in the Terry Schiavo case which was based solely off of looking at a video tape…and Frist was never a neurosurgeon or well versed in traumatic brain injury medicine…he was a heart and lung transplant guy.

  11. Paul is a medical doctor, though – an M.D. But, I get your point.

I have a friend who is an E.R. nurse and he told me about a local facility (one of those independent full service ER centers) that hired an allergist as the ER doctor. That’s kinda scary.

    hand-washing

Seems reasonable. The business owner gets to decide whether or not to enforce cleanliness and the eating public gets to decide that the business owner is an idiot and stop frequenting the establishment.

    Everybody wins!

(hint) this is where you bring up that new survey of millenials where no one knows who their Senator is and point out the eating public is a bunch of morons(/hint)

  13. “Seems reasonable.”

^^Maybe to you. Aside from the just plain idiocy of Tillis’s comment there’s the irony of Tillis being upset about the regulation for food handlers requiring they wash their hands after using the toilet but is perfectly fine with a regulation forcing owners to pay for advertising and signage promoting the practice of food handlers not washing their hands after using the toilet.

I imagine he feels the same way about doctors and nurses washing their hands in hospitals as well. Just way too much regulation out there.

  14. “(hint) this is where you bring up that new survey of millenials where no one knows who their Senator is and point out the eating public is a bunch of morons(/hint)”

^^As is often the case with you I have no clue WTF your talking about here.

Government: The Solution to All of Our Problems!!!!!

The same government that was tasked with educating these dingleberries is to be blindly trusted with overseeing restaurant cleanliness?

I’d wager that the Tillis plan of “let the customer decide” will be better (and cheaper) than hiring an army of bureaucrats. It almost always is.

  16. “I’d wager that the Tillis plan of “let the customer decide” will be better (and cheaper) than hiring an army of bureaucrats.

^^The difference is you, like me, are anonymous commenters on a media blog and no one cares if we have ideas that are nutty as a fruit cake. Tillis is a US Senator and what he says matter – even when he sounds like an ignorant fool.
