NBCUNIVERSAL NEWS GROUP AND MIKA BRZEZINSKI TO LAUNCH EXPANDED KNOW YOUR VALUE FRANCHISE ON MSNBC AND OTHER PLATFORMS

Day-Long Events Will be Held for Women in Philadelphia, DC, Chicago, Boston, and Orlando Throughout 2015

NEW YORK – February 17, 2015 – Today the NBCUniversal News Group announced an expanded partnership with Mika Brzezinski that will build on her New York Times bestselling book and brand “Knowing Your Value,” by launching a nationwide franchise including content and a series of live events in five cities in 2015. In each city, Mika and a group of experts, including both nationally and locally-recognized figures, will host a day-long program that will explore how women at all stages of their careers can overcome roadblocks to be successful and to create the lives they want. The live events will be designed to be accessible for women at all ages and levels, and will provide participants with training and mentoring opportunities as well as practical advice that they can apply both inside and outside of the workplace.

The “Know Your Value” tour will be part of a full-year program that will focus on building an engaged community where women can come together to coach, network and support each other to create their blueprint of success. Each event will feature panel discussions, breakout sessions, training and mentoring opportunities and aspirational speakers that will cover a wide range of topics, including negotiation skills, personal finance, health and wellness.

Know Your Value is joining forces with a diverse group of companies on this franchise, including Presenting Sponsor Johnson & Johnson, and Prudential, JetBlue, Comcast NBCUniversal, Tivo Inc., and fashion brand Milly. The tour will kick off in Philadelphia in April, followed by Washington DC in May, Chicago in September, Boston in October and Orlando in November. Additional information about each event and ticket purchasing will be announced in the coming weeks.

“The whole idea behind knowing your value is to provide tangible, relatable advice that can empower women to achieve their own vision of success,” said Mika Brzezinski, author of “Knowing Your Value” and the co-host of Morning Joe. “We want to create a different kind of national movement that provides tips, training and resources that feel realistic for working women in their everyday lives. We’re thrilled to team up with employers who share this mission to bring these events to women from all backgrounds, industries and stages of their careers.”

“Mika’s story has already resonated with millions of women and we’re proud to support her as she goes out on the road for this next chapter,” said Phil Griffin, President of MSNBC. “We think it’s important to use our platforms to drive social change – and we believe this will be a great way for Mika to continue to reach new audiences in communities around the country.”

“Mika’s passion for empowering women to express their worth in business and in their lives inspired us to launch a new franchise together — devoted to this mission — across all of NBCU News Group platforms,” said Elisabeth Sami, SVP, Strategy and Business Development, NBCUniversal News Group. “We see this as a great opportunity to form a partnership and extend a brand that Mika created.”

The “Know Your Value” venture will create content to engage women across all the platforms they read and watch, using expanded digital tools to bring this program to the fingertips of those who can’t attend in person. MSNBC will also feature a new “Know Your Value” digital resource center: http://www.msnbc.com/knowyourvalue, featuring regularly updated content, live-streaming of conferences that users can watch while on the go, where members of the growing “Know Your Value” community can network and continue the conversation.

  1. Brzezinski has a new book ‘Grow your Value’ coming out this spring. I assume this is all part of the promotion for that book.

  2. A platinum blonde “potted plant”. Talentless, but then that’s why she is on MSNBC.

  3. “#WarOnWomen: An Ongoing Series”
