The Weather Company Expands Marketing and Communications Group, Appoints David Jaye as Chief Marketing Officer
Maureen Marshall Also Promoted to Vice President of Communications
Atlanta, GA – March 23, 2015 – The Weather Company has expanded its marketing and communications group, appointing David Jaye as chief marketing officer and elevating Maureen Marshall to vice president of communications. Jaye joins Weather from Google and will spearhead the marketing, creative and social media efforts for The Weather Channel® and Weather Underground brands across all platforms. Marshall will lead the communications efforts for the marketing and communications group, supporting cross-functional efforts for the company. Both Jaye and Marshall will report to Shirley Powell, executive vice president of marketing and communications.

Based in Atlanta, Jaye will be responsible for developing and leading the marketing strategy and creative expression for the company’s consumer brands. He will also oversee The Weather Company’s marketing council, and work closely with all business units to ensure consistency across the company. Previously, as head of creative agency client development for Google, Jaye executed, scaled and architected their partnership strategy and outreach engagement. Prior to Google, Jaye held senior digital marketing roles at FCB (Interpublic Group), Digitas (Publicis Groupe), Wunderman Interactive (Y&R Group), and OgilvyOne Worldwide. He earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Emory University.
“Since Maureen joined the company in 2011, she has impressed everyone with her strong experience and knowledge, creative ideas, and positive energy,” said Powell. “She has mastered the art of being incredibly effective and well-respected, and it will be beneficial to have everyone experience her qualities and strengths.”
Based in New York, Marshall’s new role will include expanded oversight of the communications team. She will continue to drive trade and consumer communications for all platforms and business units, as well as internal communications for the company. Previously as director of communications, Marshall successfully launched the cable network’s first full slate of original programming. She also received the company’s Leadership Award in 2013. Prior to Weather, Marshall held roles at Turner Broadcasting, Warner Bros., Disney/ABC Cable Networks, and E! Networks. Marshall earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from University of Michigan.
