The Hazards of Live TV: #25,134

I’m late to this but it couldn’t be helped. Yesterday Brooke Baldwin put her foot in it pretty good when making some commentary on the Baltimore situation. NewsBusters’ Curtis Houck wrote it up

While speaking with Democratic Congressman Elijah Cummings (Md.), Baldwin recalled a conversation with a Baltimore City councilman about police officers not living “in the communities” they represent when she remarked that: “I love our nation’s veterans, but some of them are coming back from war, they don’t know the communities, and they’re ready to do battle.”

You can guess what happened next. Later on in the day Baldwin apologized.

I am sorry for what I said earlier about veterans. It was wrong and I apologize to anyone who was hurt by my comments.

Will there be an on air apology though?

Update: Yes, there was an on air apology. Baldwin didn’t wait the hours until her show aired. She came on New Day. (via CNN Observations)

  1. It was a good apology

  2. She just apologized at the top of her show. And, it was a solid apology. But what she said was such a typical liberal way of thinking about the military. I’m not sure why so many liberals/media people look at the military the way they do. But, they are definitely out of touch with those who serve.
