Flying Under the Radar?

I’m going to say this once. If we beat up on MSNBC for trying to put non-journalists in journalist roles, why is everyone so silent about this?

Network Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes is happy with his new hire. “I’ve followed Abby’s work for some time,” Ailes said. “I believe she is talented and headed for a bigger future.”

Replace the words “Abby Huntsman” with “Ronan Farrow” and “Roger Ailes” with “Phil Griffin” and this starts looking very deja-vu-ish.

FNC has been doing this for a long time having reporters and anchors also be opinion people or co-host opinion shows.

Ed Henry has appeared as co-host of FOX & Friends which is a conserved news talk show.

Harris Faulkner who is a weekend anchor and sub for Shep gives her conservative biased opinions as co-host of Outnumbered.

Ainsley Earhardt who is an anchor & reporter appears as a guest on Outnumbered giving her conservative opinions.

Melissa Francis who is a business anchor shows up on Outnumbered and The Five giving her conservative opinions.

  2. Let’s forget about replacing “Abby” with “Ronan”. If Abby had been assigned as a “reporter” at MSNBC, the FNC fans would lose their minds.

  3. Harris Faulkner is on Outnumbered all the time spouting off conservative talking points.

But Thomas Roberts anchoring MSNBC Live is some cardinal sin.

I’m sure “reporter” Abby Huntsman will be on Outnumbered giving her opinion on things. But, she’s an attractive female on Fox, so that’s okay.

Katie Pavlich who is a FNC conservative opinion guest has also been on FNC acting as if she’s an actual reporter.

Pavlich was on The Kelly File September 24th reading copy off a Teleprompter as if she’s a regular reporter for a segment fact checking if Hillary started the Obama birther thing.

  5. It will be interesting to see her evolve from the rational moderate Republican/conservative we saw on MSNBC and occasionally CNN into a Fox News babe.

  6. Because, Fox is the anointed one.

It will be interesting to see her evolve from the rational moderate Republican/conservative we saw on MSNBC and occasionally CNN into a Fox News babe with nothing insightful to say and making up sh!t up along the way and passing it off as facts.

  7. Yeah the Pavlich thing with Kelly was weird. I know a guy at Fox and asked him what the deal with that was and he didn’t understand why they were bringing a prompter to her for her guest spot.

  8. Will be interesting to see what type of reporting she does/what she reports on. I don’t know much about her other than that she was the token right of center member of the Cycle (and that a guy named Andy is infatuated with her…:)). I rarely watched but what I saw from her wasn’t hard line conservative talking points.

  9. Since his show canceled in February, Ronan has done two reports for Nightly News and about 10+ reports for Today Show. He’s doing just fine as a reporter. Abby is not even 30 years old. If she wants to be a reporter, more power to her. I think she’ll do well too.

  10. So, in approx 7 months Ronan has done 12+ reports? So, a story about every 18 days? Good gig, if you can get it.
