“Morning Joe” Tops CNN in Total Viewers, Ties in A25-54 Demo

MSNBC Continues to Gain Momentum in A25-54 Demo and Total Viewers

NEW YORK – October 27, 2015 – “The Rachel Maddow Show” tops CNN for regularly scheduled shows in total viewers (953,000 vs. 547,000) and the A25-54 demo (171,000 vs. 159,000) for the month of October 2015. “Morning Joe” also tops CNN in total viewers for eight consecutive months (463,000 vs. 351,000) and ties in the A25-54 demo for the past two months. Additionally, “Hardball with Chris Matthews” and “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” are all ahead of CNN in total viewers for October 2015.

MSNBC continues to gain momentum in the ratings over last year. MSNBC is up in the key A25-54 demo over October 2014 including “Morning Joe” (+16%), “Hardball with Chris Matthews” (+8%), “All In with Chris Hayes” (+28%), “The Rachel Maddow Show” (+31%), and “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” (25%). For M-F Prime 8-11pm, MSNBC is up (+29%) in the A25-54 demo over last year.

Since premiering in September 2015, “MTP Daily with Chuck Todd” has seen a (+14%) increase in the demo this month and “MSNBC Live” programming also saw double digit A25-54 growth over last month: “MSNBC Live with José Díaz-Balart” (+15%), highest since November 2014; “MSNBC Live with Tamron Hall” (+37%), highest since January 2015; “Andrea Mitchell Reports” (+13%), highest since November 2014; “MSNBC Live with Thomas Roberts” (+15%), highest since April 2014; “MSNBC Live with Kate Snow” (+28%), highest since November 2014.

Compared to October 2014, MSNBC is up double digits in total viewers for several programs including “Morning Joe” (+36%); “Hardball with Chris Matthews” (+16%), highest since February 2014; “All In with Chris Hayes” (+32%); “The Rachel Maddow Show” (+31%), highest since February 2014; “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” (33%).

In total viewers, “MSNBC Live” programming also saw double-digit growth in total viewers over October 2014: “MSNBC Live with José Díaz-Balart” (+23%), highest since October 2013; “MSNBC Live with Tamron Hall” (+40%), highest since October 2013; “Andrea Mitchell Reports” (+24%), highest since November 2013; “MSNBC Live with Thomas Roberts” (+55%), highest since October 2013; “MSNBC Live with Kate Snow” (+23%), highest since January 2014.

Over October 2014, on the weekends in the A25-54 demo, “Weekends with Alex Witt 7am” (+33%), “Up with Steve Kornacki” (+24%) and “Melissa Harris-Perry” (+33%) and in total viewers “Weekends with Alex Witt 7am” (+21%), “Up with Steve Kornacki” (+15%) and “Melissa Harris-Perry” (+33%).

  1. I don’t know if you monitor social media or not, but most people in the age ranges you you stated are complaining that you took our democrat platform away for a more hard line news. If people want to listen about republicans all the time they could watch Faux news no spelling error. That is why Rachel Maddow is on top in the ratings. Chris Hayes is becoming a buzz word on who to watch also. Ratings are up because of the race for President. Don’t be surprised after the election is over your ratings will drop. I only watched your show in the first place to find out information on the democratic party. On social media I am not the only one complaining…
