Honestly, respectable coverage of the terror attacks were from the BBC and AJE. They actually had correspondents in Paris during the attacks and deployed correspondents to Paris who could speak French and understand French culture. Speculation was limited and didn’t inflate the death toll by only going with official figures. There’s always speculation but they kept it to a minimum. The US networks weren’t that great. CNN is supposed to be the best at this kind of coverage but they were seriously lacking.
I just realized my previous comment could be read as saying CNN didn’t have a correspondent or on-air staff who speak French. They did just to clarify. However, it was too sensational, especially with the 153 killed figure on the L3 when others went with 120. The authorities mistakenly gave 140 at one point but CNN’s 153 was after the count was reduced by authorities.
