Christiane Amanpour Back to CNN?

Page Six makes trouble

“This Week” anchor Christiane Amanpour isn’t getting along with the bosses at ABC News, and has reached out to the honchos at CNN to return to the network where she started her career. Sources tell us award-winning Amanpour has been “miserable” anchoring the weekly political talk show and contacted Turner CEO Phil Kent about getting back to reporting on her passion — international affairs. “The courtship began over the summer when Phil first got wind that all was not well with her over there,” a source said. “Both sides regretted her leaving.” Sources say Amanpour has butted heads with executive producer Rick Kaplan and ABC News president Ben Sherwood. “It’s a problem,” a source said. “Rick is trying to guide the show, but she doesn’t want to hear it.” An ABC rep said, “I just got off the phone with Christiane, she says that’s total nonsense. She’s very happy at ABC News. She’s not going anywhere. She’s had the most extraordinary year. She’s a critical, essential voice.” A CNN rep declined to comment on “speculation.”

  1. It’s hard to tell what to make of this bit of gossip. My gut reaction is there may be a kernel of truth here; maybe Amanpour grousing at perceived interference from ABC head office suits; who knows.

The one line that is interesting is the last one: “A CNN rep declined to comment on “speculation.””; only because they don’t deny the story outright.

I sure hope so. She absolutely terrible on This Week. It should be Jake Tapper’s show.

Maybe she can bring some credibility back to CNN primetime. Just a thought. When CNN relies on a giggling daytime talk show host and a reality show judge for primetime, something ain’t right with the universe.

I’ve got a better idea – why not join her other leftist pals on Current TV? She’d be right at home with them, plus save the majority of the country from watching.

  5. The square peg got forced into a round hole to host Sunday’s THIS WEEK. She has no gravitas in matters political, and it shows. Tapper is made for the show, and she must know so many of us want him in and her out.

  6. Maybe she just wants to get back to CNN in time to join with Fareed Zackaria in the making of HUMAN CENTIPEDE 3.

^What are you Larry 12 years old? Jeeeesh!

  8. Kelly, anyone who understands that reference now knows what a disgusting person you are.

Wow, I just looked up Human Centipede on IMDB and that is some crazy Shiite.

  10. We need to stop feeding the troll. That dude is messed up.

  11. lonestar77 Says:

I don’t even wanna know how you got the reference.

  12. I have a subscription to Entertainment Weekly. They reviewed it.

  13. Makes sense, as she should’ve been on Nightline instead. She’s completely miscast for her ABC role. On top of it, you get a sense that ABC can’t afford to use her right only keeping her in studio as an analysis, and she can’t do what she did on CNN. CNN should’ve forked over the money to keep her there. The network needs a well known corespondent to keep it’s global news pedigree. If CNN was smart it would start hiring people they need to be the “Down the middle” hard news model that they have been boxed into.

  14. Yeah, that movie is diabolic. Haven’t seen it, but the preview and the cover graphic are insane enough for me to get the point.

  15. It’s banned in England for being harmful to society. Mr. Kelly is sick, and should not be commenting here.

  16. I thought it was an Atari-reference. Silly me.

Even if totally untrue, that story line reads quite favourable to CNN. Why deny what helps if you don’t have to?
