Kelly Evans to CNBC…

The New York Times’ Brian Stelter writes about Kelly Evans jumping from the Wall Street Journal to CNBC…

Kelly Evans, who became a video star at a place not known for that sort of thing, The Wall Street Journal, is moving to the television network CNBC.

Ms. Evans will be an on-air reporter for the network, the CNBC senior vice president Nik Deogun said in an internal memorandum Wednesday afternoon. Her potential move was reported by The Jane Dough on Monday.

Although based in New York for The Journal, Ms. Evans’ initial assignment for CNBC will be in London, said Mr. Deogun, who was a deputy managing editor at the same newspaper before moving to the network.

  1. Gosh, I guess this means Erin Burnett won’t be getting her seat back when she gets drop-kicked from CNN. 😉

I read on Business Insider that Evans is kinda like Burnett’s replacement. This girl is much younger though. I think Kelly has potential if CNBC doesn’t ruin her. I guess she is like Burnett in that she is a young up-and-comer looking to make a mark but from Evans resume, I would say she is a smarter, more grounded version of Burnett. Evans was wicked smart in high school (public) and graduated magna cum laude in business journalism while on an academic scholarship. The fact that she is educated in journalism and started her career writing for WSJ is a good sign she will hold a higher ethical standard and not just parrot corporate talking points. Being assigned the London bureau during the Euro Debt Crisis is a big deal so she is getting one heck of an opportunity. Good luck to her.
