Neglecting the irony of it all…

I have seen this same exact problem a couple times on msnbc.

    Anthony Weiner is THE MAN.

  3. imnotblue Says:

^If by “man” you mean, “complete phony,” than yes.

The smirk while Peter King was trying to talk said it all. He knows what he’s doing… it’s all strategy, it’s all politics… none of it is respectable.

  4. “He knows what he’s doing… it’s all strategy, it’s all politics… none of it is respectable.”
blue: I know you meant both Wiener & King when you said that.

  5. joeremi Says:

They’re both pretty straight up dudes, if you ask me. Worthy adversaries.

No. It was all strategy from day one. Weiner knew what the outcome of the vote would be, that’s why the did the parliamentary trick… simply to try to make the other side look bad. It’s something he can talk about until the recess is over, and he provided enough of a show to make it interesting for the news networks.

What we’re seeing here is the “Alan Grayson” effect… act like enough of a lunatic, and say enough lunatic things, that you get your face on the TV. Of course, it helps to be on the left-side of things, so most networks will cover your a little more friendly (expect the word: “passionate” to be thrown around a lot).

Remember, politicians are 20% politics and ideas, 50% PR and marketing, and 30% backroom deals and scandals. Weiner realized if he can make his 50%, more like 80%, nobody will notice the scandals and he won’t actually have to justify the politics and ideas.

    And that is not respectable.

Wiener sure has the right name he’s one big Wiener,,but atleast pulling crap like this takes him away from his George Soro’s backed attack on Glenn Beck though that Goldline witch hunt.

And The Republicans would never do that.
God forbid the sainted Peter King and his cohorts would ever deem to ‘play politics’ with an issue.
I guess Weiner was just upset that he didn’t get his way.
Luckily those who would benefit from the bills passage know that those Republicans who defeated the bill were just looking out for the best interests of the ground zero workers by voting against the bill.
Darn those evil Democrats for trying to give them money that’s owed them and congratulations to the Republicans for blocking it.

  9. I thought the Weiner/King argument was great. Weiner really huffed and puffed it up for the cameras, and I suppose that could be considered “phony”… but it’s also classic American politics.

And King made his points just fine. Debate is good. The bear was great.

Could you imagine if this faux pas occurred on Fox? Conspiracy theories and the worst possible motives would be attributed to this action.

  17. I imagine you have an active imagination. This kind of stuff happens on cable news all the time.

  18. Could you imagine if this faux pas occurred on Fox?

News Flash: It always happens on Fox. One of the best ones was when they put the “Going Rouge” book about Sarah Palin instead of her own book “Going Rogue“. That was a classic FAIL.

  19. jackyboy Says:

I think we should all come to the realization that mistakes happen in cable news, fox, msnbc, cnn, yadda yadda they all do it. As for the Wiener debate I still can’t believe he can call out the republicans for not caring when the democrats have a frigging super majority! God! Im sorry but the democrats have no balls whatsoever. The republicans may suck but at least they know how to get their stuff done (even if like 90% of the time it sucks).

  20. tooncigars Says:

the dems just want the repubs. to go down the drain with them on any votes– that’s why the dems. insisted this vote had to be a two-thirds majority instead of straight up and down (which the dems could have won but would have had to take total blame for)– not gonna happen– they get all whiny (weinery?) when they can’t make them vote against their better judgement– it is politics as usual but i’ve never seen repubs. hang together so “tough”– these little scenes they pull on the floor are starting to remind me of the high farce that goes on in the Brit parliament every friday– harrumphh, harrumphh–

  21. Im sorry but the democrats have no balls whatsoever. The republicans may suck but at least they know how to get their stuff done (even if like 90% of the time it sucks).

My entire world view..summed up succinctly. Nice work, Jacky. 😉

  22. tooncigars Says:

welcome back to the fold lads–

  23. — 90% of the time it sucks —

Yeah, kids, because crippling health care and the banking system just wasn’t enough for one year. Just think how much more could have been done!
