Newsmaker Reactions and Expert Analysis on Special Editions of “Andrea Mitchell Reports”, “Hardball” and “Morning Joe”

NEW YORK, NY- August 4, 2015- MSNBC announced today coverage plans for the first Republican Presidential Debate live from Cleveland on Thursday, August 6 and Friday, August 7. On Thursday, MSNBC will be live from East Fourth Street in downtown Cleveland. Andrea Mitchell will host “Andrea Mitchell Reports” (12-1 p.m. ET) and Steve Kornacki will host “MSNBC Live” (4-5 p.m. ET). Then, Chris Matthews will preview the night’s debate with a special two-hour edition of “Hardball” (7-9 p.m. ET) and host a live post-debate “Hardball” (11 p.m.-1 a.m. ET). On Friday morning, Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski and Willie Geist will be live from Flannery’s Pub to break down the key debate moments for a special broadcast of “Morning Joe” (6-9 a.m. ET). MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt, Jane Timm and Beth Fouhy will also contribute live reports from Cleveland on Thursday and Friday.

Guests will include Chuck Todd, host of “Meet the Press”; Michael Steele, Former RNC Chairman and MSNBC Political Analyst; Steve Schmidt, MSNBC Political Contributor and Republican Strategist; Eugene Robinson, The Washington Post and MSNBC Political Analyst; Howard Fineman, Huffington Post; Robert Costa, The Washington Post; Kathleen Parker, The Washington Post; Jeremy Peters, The New York Times; columnist Connie Schultz and more.

From New York, MSNBC contributor Dorian Warren will host a show live on’s Shift during the debate at 10 p.m. ET and MSNBC political reporter Benjy Sarlin will be live in Atlanta for an official RedState Watch Party.




Oren Liebermann and Matt Rivers have joined CNN International as correspondents, the network announced today. Liebermann will be based in CNN’s Jerusalem bureau and Rivers will be based in CNN’s Beijing bureau.

“Oren and Matt are multi-skilled and highly motivated reporters,” said Deborah Rayner, Senior Vice President of CNN International Newsgathering. “Their passion for storytelling on all platforms will further strengthen our reportage in the Middle East and Asia.”

Award-winning Liebermann joins CNN International after reporting extensively for the network from Jerusalem, Ramallah, Bethlehem and Tel Aviv. He has covered stories including Israel’s elections, the conferring of sainthood on two Palestinians by Pope Francis, and reaction to the Iran nuclear deal. Elsewhere, he has also played a key role in CNN’s coverage of the Nepal earthquake. He will now be based in the network’s Jerusalem bureau. Prior to joining CNN, he was a reporter for CBS 3 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has earned Associated Press Awards and Emmy Awards for his reporting and features, and for team coverage of Hurricane Irene. He is also fluent in Hebrew.

Rivers joins CNN International from CBS 3 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, KSAT-TV in San Antonio, Texas, and KTSM-TV in El Paso, Texas. Rivers specialized in breaking news and investigations. His three part series into alleged campaign abuses by the Sheriff of San Antonio led to an investigation by the Texas Rangers. He has also reported extensively from the U.S.-Mexican border. As well as being an accomplished reporter, he can shoot and edit his own work.
