CNBC ANNOUNCES COVERAGE PLANS FOR “THE REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE: YOUR MONEY, YOUR VOTE” ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 28
Debate Moderated by CNBC’s Carl Quintanilla, Becky Quick and John Harwood and Broadcast from the Coors Events Center at the University of Colorado Boulder
ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., October 22, 2015— CNBC, First in Business Worldwide, today announced coverage plans for “The Republican Presidential Debate: Your Money, Your Vote” on Wednesday, October 28. Moderated by CNBC’s Carl Quintanilla, co-anchor of “Squawk on the Street” and “Squawk Alley,” Becky Quick, co-anchor of “Squawk Box” and Chief Washington Correspondent John Harwood, the RNC sanctioned debate will be held at the Coors Events Center at the University of Colorado Boulder and broadcast live on CNBC.
As previously announced, the event will be divided into two parts with two groups of candidates debating the key issues that matter to all voters—job growth, taxes, technology, retirement and the health of our national economy. One grouping will include candidates with an average of three percent in a specified group of national polls. Those 10 candidates will take the stage shortly after 8PM ET for a two-hour debate. The other grouping will include candidates who meet the minimum threshold of one percent in any one of the specified group of national polls. Those four candidates will take the stage at 6PM ET. During the debate, moderators Carl Quintanilla, Becky Quick and John Harwood will be joined by a panel of CNBC experts including On-Air Editor Rick Santelli, Senior Personal Finance Correspondent Sharon Epperson and Jim Cramer, host of “Mad Money w/Jim Cramer,” who will also question the candidates on major policy issues.
CNBC will broadcast live from the Coors Events Center with CNBC’s Eamon Javers and Jane Wells reporting throughout the network’s Business Day programming. A special edition of CNBC’s “Closing Bell” (M-F, 3PM-5PM ET) anchored by Kelly Evans will air at 3PM ET. Beginning at 5PM ET, CNBC’s Joe Kernen, co-anchor of CNBC’s “Squawk Box” and Kelly Evans, co-anchor of CNBC’s “Closing Bell,” will host special programming leading up to the debate featuring a roster of CNBC’s top reporters and contributors, including CNBC Senior Contributor Larry Kudlow.
Following the debate, CNBC’s Joe Kernen and Kelly Evans will be live from the Spin Room with instant analysis and reaction. The conversation will continue on CNBC Digital with a post-debate show, “Your Money, Your Vote: The Republican Presidential Post-Debate Show,” featuring CNBC contributors and insight from the moderators with debate highlights and the night’s winners and losers. The CNBC post-debate show will be available unauthenticated as a live stream for digital users on CNBC.com as well as CNBC’s iOS app. It will also be available on AOL, Comcast’s X1 platform and Xfinity.com, MSN, Shift by MSNBC and YouTube.
CNBC Digital will offer comprehensive coverage of the debate. Throughout the event, CNBC.com will be live blogging with instant updates, data and video as the debate progresses and will have a roster of some of the nation’s sharpest political and economic minds offering their views of the debate. CNBC will also feature extensive social media coverage. CNBC will bring back the “Twicker,” streaming Twitter reaction from viewers, users and influencers across the network’s stock ticker throughout the debate. CNBC will also utilize iPowow, a real-time viewer voting tool, to poll viewers and users on how the candidates are doing during the debate. Viewers and users can vote online and on mobile with results displayed in real-time.
